Banglalink Grandmaster

After the success of Banglalink Grandmaster 2011, the telecom operator is back for the second year with Banglalink Grandmaster Season 2, an idea generation contest for university students all over Bangladesh. In a press conference held earlier on September 26, 2012, Banglalink announced the launch of Banglalink Grandmaster season 2.

Registration and project submissiom have been open from September 27 and will remain open till October 18, 2012. Interested students need to form groups, register and submit their ideas through Banglalink's facebook fan page 'banglalinkmela.' The projects will be screened in two phases and the top three projects will be short listed for the grand finale.

The winning team will receive BDT 200,000.00, the first runners up and second runners up will receive BDT 150,000.00 and BDT 100,000.00, respectively. The theme for this year's Grandmaster is 'mobile internet based mobile applications'. Feasible projects will be taken into account for execution by Banglalink.


Education Fair-2012 at International Education Centre

Education Fair was held in the premises of International Education Centre (IEC) in Uttara, Dhaka, on September 17, 2012. Shireen Ahmed, the Principal, officially inaugurated the fair with an educational oath from the students. The students' innovation and creativity were reflected through a wide range of projects. Parents and visitors shared their views by saying that an interaction between teachers, students and guardians was clearly observed which helped accomplish the key missions of this arrangement. IEC plans to continue similar efforts in future.


Food Carnival at North South University

The two day long Food Carnival at North South University (NSU) came to an end on October 2, 2012. To create awareness among the food vendors and making the people health conscious, Public health Club of North South University organised the event, 'NSU Food Carnival 2012'. Renowned vendors and franchises from different brands participated in the carnival. M A Hashem, Chairman of BOT, NSU distributed crests among participants as the chief guest. M A Kashem, Benajir Ahmed and Ragib Ali, former Chairmen of NSU Foundation, and Dr Md Abdus Sattar, Acting Vice Chancellor, were present. The guests officially visited 32 stalls that participated in the carnival.


Human Chain by SUST

A human chain demonstration was made in front of the Central Library of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), Sylhet, to protest the heinous incidents done over the Buddhist and Hindu community at Ramu, Ukhia, Teknaf and Potia upazillas of Cox's Bazar and Chittagong. Department of Anthropology at SUST and Anthropublic, an online group jointly organised the programme.

AKM Mazharul Islam, Associate Professor of the Department of Anthropology, SUST, and Convener of the human chain programme, Abdul Awwal Biswas, Chair, Department of Anthropology, SUST, and Abdul Karim Kim, representative from 'Ninai' a cultural organisation spoke at the programme. The speakers urged to uphold the communal harmony in this country by all cost.


Public Lecture Series at Faculty of Law at Eastern University

Faculty of Law of Eastern University hosted the third session of Lecture Series recently. The programme was chaired by Professor Dr Borhan Uddin Khan, Advisor, Faculty of Law, Eastern University. The thematic session was conducted on the phases of growth in judicial administration of Bangladesh keeping the court structure in focus. Kazi Ebadul Hoque, former Justice of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh, presented a comprehensive paper detailing the judicial administration from the ancient Hindu period to the present system. Also present in the programme were Professor Dr Nurul Islam, Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Anisur Rahman, Acting Chairperson of the Department of Law and other faculty members.


ORIENTATION PROGRAMME

International University of Business Agriculture and Technology

The 61st orientation programme for students and faculty members of the College of Business Administration (CBA)-IUBAT was held on October 6, 2012 at the IUBAT Campus. Md Shahjahan Ali Mollah, Administrator of Dhaka North City Corporation graced the occasion as chief guest

Sylhet Law college

The orientation programme for the newly admitted students of LLB course in the Sylhet Law College was recently held at the college auditorium. Principle Proshun Kanthi Dey, Professor Fouzia Sultana and Emad Ullah were present at this programme. The freshers were welcomed and informed about the rules and regulations of the college. Proshun Kanthi Dey convened the new students for growing steadily with universal values to become successful leaders of coming days.

Raffles Institute of Higher Education

Raffles Institute of Higher Education, Dhaka organised an orientation programme for its October 2012 intake on October 1, 2012. The College Director, Terence Tan, shared with students and parents the necessity of premium education in Bangladesh during the orientation programme. Terence Tan highlighted that the students' well-being and safety, their personal and intellectual growth, and their future life and career are of utmost importance to Raffles. He also mentioned that all students in Raffles are very special as they are the future entrepreneurs and designers in their respective fields who will contribute to build a better future for Bangladesh.


Blood Donation Programme at SUB

A day long 'Blood Donation and Grouping' was held at the State University of Bangladesh (SUB) on October 6, 2012. It was organised by the Department of Law in co-operation with 'Sandhani.' Professor Dr Iftekhar Ghani Chowdhury, Vice-Chancellor, SUB, inaugurated the programme. Among others, Professor AYM Ekram-Ud-Daullah, Registrar, SUB, Major General (Retd) Dr M Shahjahan, Treasurer, SUB, Asif Nazrul, Professor, Department of Law, Univesity of Dhaka and Adviser, Department of Law, SUB and Zinat Amin Shipa, Co-ordinator, Department of Law, SUB, were present at the inauguration ceremony.
