Caught in the
Land-grabber's Grasp

The atrocity took place on November 2 at a village called Gopalpur of Dhamrai thana of Gazipur district. Though it is only about 50 or so kilometres away from Dhaka, the news of the attack on the minority community of that locality, as part of the land-grabbing scheme of the usurpers reached as late as November 27. It was The Daily Star that first brought the tragedy to light. The heinous attack on families living in that village caught the attention of the press only when the repression and harassment continued as the local authorities and the law enforcement agency failed to perform their respective duties.
