Female hair loss and its prevention

There are several key factors to examine when determining the reason for a woman's loss of hair. Stress, pregnancy, medications, hormonal problems, and thyroid disease are some of the most common causes of hair loss in women. Have you been under a lot of stress lately? Are you pregnant or taking medications? Is your hair loss minimal or excessive? In order to find a solution to your hair loss problem, you have to ask yourself these questions.

Illness
Your body has a way of telling you when something is wrong. This is not to say that all hair-loss experiences determine that you're ill. Nevertheless, hair-loss and balding can and should be taken as a serious warning. Hormonal imbalances can be the cause of your hair loss. Your hair-loss is very likely to stop once the problem is treated. Women's thyroid glands, that are overactive or underactive, commonly 'warn' the body of possible thyroid disease. The body will shed hair as a result of this 'warning.'

Pregnancy
Many women experience hair loss approximately two or three months after they've delivered their babies. During a woman's pregnancy, high levels of specific hormones can cause the female body to retain hair that would normally fall out. When a pregnant woman's hormones return to pre-pregnancy hormone levels, that retained hair falls out.

Young Women
The most common cause of hair-loss in teenage women is stress. Hair loss in young women can also be a warning sign of the following: Infection, poor hygiene habits, excessive dye in hair, medication intake, lupus, and or diabetes.

Improper Care of Hair
Tight pony-tails, pigtails, braids, cornrows, and curlers can cause a type of hair loss known as Alopecia. If scarring occurs on the delicate skin on your scalp, your hair may never grow back. Hot oil treatment, chemicals for perms, bleach, and metallic dyes may cause inflammation to the hair follicles on your scalp. These inflammations, which first appear as swelling, often turn into scars. The final result can be hair-loss.

Listed below are a few points that you could follow to prevent hair loss.

  • Using of Brahmi Amla Oil, promotes hair growth.
  • Regular shampooing of hair also reduces hair loss and keeps it clean and healthy.
  • Drink at least 10-12 glasses of water daily.
  • Have a high protein diet and along with that take a good intake of fruits, vegetables and dairy products. The Vitamin C in fruits and vegetables ensures the health of capillaries supplying blood to hair follicles.
  • Lack of iron in the body will make your hair look dull and lifeless. The best intake of iron is spinach.
  • Lack of Vitamin B causes dandruff, hair loss and grey hair might also be encouraged. This vitamin is important as it gives colour and thickness to your hair.
  • Have an adequate amount of Vitamin E. This vitamin promotes hair growth.
  • Eat food rich in zinc. Zinc prevents hair loss and graying of hair.
  • Intake of nuts, like cashew nuts and peanuts, whole milk and beans contain good amount of copper. Intake of copper should be high as this stops hair from falling.
  • While it is important to get enough of the right nutrients, it is just as important not to get too much of any one type of vitamin. For example, too much of vitamins A and E, have been linked to hair loss.
  • If you like to enhance the look of your hair through chemical means, but are nervous about future hair loss, it is a good idea to only have this type of work done by a licensed beautician. Many do-it-yourselfers are too inexperienced to properly perform chemical treatments to their hair, having a tendency to over apply the products.
  • Using satin or silk pillowcases is thought to prevent hair loss due to the fact that a silk or satin pillowcase will cause less friction while sleeping than a cotton or flannel pillowcase. This is because the head and the hair slide across the pillow instead of needing to be forcefully pushed across.
It is important to remember that even in a healthy person, it is completely normal to lose between 50 and 100 hairs from the head every day. If you feel that your hair loss issues are beyond that norm, speak to your doctor or dermatologist about your concerns. They will be able to determine if the hair loss is due to a medical or age issue, and point you in the right treatment direction.
