In everything from advertisements to dramas and films, seldom are women seen as individuals taking control of their destiny and having identities separate from the men in their lives. This does not seem out of the ordinary in a patriarchal society which promotes gender stereotypes. But where the media is a powerful tool of influence, what are the effects of such negative branding of women?
