The Grand Preparation

While it is supposed to be a month of relative peace and quiet, of sacrifice and meditation, as usual, the practicalities of getting the Eid shopping done, often takes precedence over more nobler inclinations. The shopping areas are already spilling over with clothes and accessories stacked up especially for the hundreds of Eid shoppers who seem to go into a trance as they enter these wallet-reducing venues. Which material to buy to make that perfect Eid outfit, which bag to buy to match it? Along with the frenzied shoppers that cause traffic jams to set new records of chaos, the small tailoring and embroidery shops are busy as ever to deliver on times the clothes made to order by their demanding customers.
