Sharmin shoots second gold

Shooting brought another gold for Bangladesh when Sharmin Akhter won the 10m air-rifle event in the Ninth SAF Games in Islamabad on the 31st of March in 2004.

The 16-year old from Pabna ensured that the Bangladesh anthem was played at the Shooting Range of Jinnah Sports Complex for the second consecutive day.

Another Pabna prodigy Asif Hossain Khan bagged the first gold for the country in the region's biggest sporting carnival on Tuesday in the same event.

Alike Asif a BKSP student, Sharmin, who made her first international appearance in the Asian Shooting Champion-ship in Malaysia last month and finished tenth, accumulated 493.9 points.

India's Purnima secured the silver with 492.9 points and her compatriot Quheli bagged the bronze scoring 492.1.
