HISTORY:
Founded in 1988, The Aga Khan School, Dhaka (AKS,D) is an institution of the Aga Khan Education Service, Bangladesh under the umbrella of the Aga Khan Development Network. The school has grown from a small facility with 25 students and 7 teachers to a renowned established institution with about 1200 students and 120 teachers. Our school is part of a network of more than 300 schools in the Subcontinent, Central Asia and East Africa.

As a learning center the AKS,D has a caring and nurturing educational environment in which every student is provided with opportunities to develop artistically, emotionally, intellectually, morally, physically and socially to his or her full potential.
The Aga Khan School, Dhaka (AKS,D) strives to create a harmonious balance between academic demands, sporting and cultural activities and community life. The School challenges its pupils to be intellectually inquisitive and socially conscious. Developing critical thinking and analysis is at the core of the School's mission. The School also encourages students to respect and appreciate other people's values and beliefs.
Curricula:
PRIMARY SCHOOL:
The curriculum in primary school (Play group - Grade V) follows International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IBPYP) which places an emphasis on inquiry based and cooperative learning. Higher level thinking skills are the essential goals of the teaching strategies to help nurture independent learning for tomorrow.
MIDDLE SCHOOL:
The IB-MYP philosophy is followed while teaching in Grades VI, VII and VIII which are the transition years between the IB curriculum and the Cambridge International Examination International General Certificate of Secondary Education (CIE - IGCSE) curriculum.
SENIOR SC`ation board for grades IX to XII is under the University of Cambridge which is administered in Dhaka by British Council. The school offers 15 IGCSE courses in grade IX and 11 Advanced level subjects in grade XI. The school is equipped with laboratory facilities for physics, chemistry, biology and computer subjects. The library resource centers are well equipped with a variety of books, periodicals, computers and audio visual equipments. Over 90% of our students get A, B, C grades in 'O' and 'A' levels. Students must pass a minimum of 7 'O' level subjects in one sitting, together with a minimum of 3.5 subjects at the Advance Subsidiary and Advanced levels to graduate successfully from AKS,D. AKSD Graduates gain admission to leading Universities in our country as well as other countries like Australia, Canada, China, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, USA, UK and U.A.E. CAS (Creativity, Action and Service):
The Aga Khan School, Dhaka offers a variety of clubs and activities and all students are expected to participate in some aspect of Creativity, Action and Service. We have events like Business Week, Open House, Meena Bazar and others. The following clubs and sports facilities are included in our CAS programme: Business, Art, English and Bangla Debate, Cultural and Dance, Computer, Music, Community Service, Creativity, Science, IT, Model United Nations, Chess, Cricket, Table Tennis, Basketball, Volleyball, Football and Handball.
