The DPS STS School Dhaka was established by the STS Group with a vision, the main theme of which was a single minded pursuit to spread the light of quality education. The very 1st session of the School commenced in Aug 2009 with an overwhelming response with over 800 students on its rolls including a packed to capacity Pre Primary Section. It is a collaborative venture between STS Group, one of the most prestigious corporate houses in Bangladesh, and the Delhi Public School Society, New Delhi (India), a pioneer in education since 1949 with schools in eleven countries worldwide.

The DPS STS School is being endowed to help children prepare themselves for a life of usefulness and constructive enterprise in a highly competitive world which is in the throes of transition, and to help them build a strong character, sharp intellect, and inculcate the abiding virtues of integrity and resourcefulness which will enable them to make a significant contribution to the nation, and the World community. Besides excelling in academics, the larger goals of our education system are to equip the child with life skills and make him a lifelong learner, so that he attains success in whatever field he chooses, and to enable him to live life to the fullest. Therefore, our endeavour is to hone the skills, tap the talents, inculcate socially desirable habits and values, develop the personality, build a strong character, so as to prepare the child to face the challenges of the future, and to serve the society as a worthy citizen of the nation.

The School is located in a landscaped Campus of 3 bighas. The imposing purpose built School building houses the most modern classrooms, well-equipped laboratories and other facilities which provide to the students a congenial environment for learning the academic subjects and the all-round development of their personalities.

DPS is one of the largest chains of schools in the world having about 170 schools. Though the DPS Society has its headquarters in New Delhi, the schools under their management are spread across the globe.

The schools based in India follow the CBSE (Indian curriculum) but some are affiliated to the international boards as well.

The DPS STS School Dhaka is the first DPS school set up by the DPS Society in Bangladesh in collaboration with STS Group following the Cambridge Curriculum (IGCSE / A level).

The School is affiliated with the University of Cambridge (International Examinations) via registration number BD 117 for the IGCSE Examination offering about 26 subjects to cater to the individual needs of the students.

The School offers a wide range of subjects in Science, Commerce and Humanities for the students to choose from as per their aptitude and interest as well as vast facilities for pursuing cultural activities like dance, music, painting, craft and community service.

Our approach is child-centred, encouraging activity based learning, discovering, researching whereby a scientific temper and a spirit of enquiry is promoted. What began as our founders' dream is now a growing and thriving reality; with a dynamic learning environment, the DPS STS School Dhaka is fast becoming a forerunner in the ducational realm as a name to be reckoned with. The School is already acknowledged to be a epresentation as a co-educational tradition of academic excellence with a mission to Teach, Nurture, and Encourage.

HARSH WAL (Principal)
Harsh Wal alumni of the renowned Mayo College Ajmer has had a long & varied experience of having worked at & headed Premier Public Schools in India like G.D. Birla Memorial School & Lawrence School Lovedale. He was Regional Director of Round Square Asia Region. He was also the founder Principal of Delhi Public School Gandhidham (Gujarat) India.

MADHU WAL (Vice Principal)
Post Graduate in English literature, from Miranda House, Delhi University, she has been a former head of English Faculty at famous schools like Mayo College Ajmer & Lawrence School Lovedale, where she was also Head of curriculum & In-charge of Boarding Houses. She is widely traveled & has visited schools all over the World to study their educational systems. She has authored several workbooks related to English Literature & Language. She is also the Educational Advisor to Padma Education Society that runs Delhi Public School Gandhidham (India).

Staff & Students
We have 811 students from Playgroup to Grade 8.
In the 2010 -2011 session we would start class 9.
We have 60 experienced & well qualified academic staff including 6 expatriates
15 Administrative staff, 3 IT personnel and 21 support staff.

Our Aims at DPS STS School Dhaka
At DPS STS School, we aim at a vigorous pursuit of excellence in academics, co-curricular activities, games and sports and character-building by providing an all-round, meaningful and liberal education. Our objectives are:

1. To recognize and to encourage talents of all kinds and of all degrees, and to endeavour to stretch the intellectual and creative capacity of individuals.

2. To develop fluency in the use of language, and to foster enjoyment of all the processes of communication: oral, written and visual.

3. In so far as it lies within the resources of the School, to illustrate the interrelationship of all human knowledge, to foster an appreciation of man's creative skills, and to stimulate a conception of learning as a life long process.

4. Since it is impossible for a school to cover the whole realm of knowledge one has to be vigorously selective in material presented to children, but we pay particular attention to:

i. Stimulating intellectual curiosity

ii. Directing and exercising the emotions; encouraging clear thinking and discrimination; developing an interest in the processes and resources of learning

iii. Fostering a capacity to tackle a problem and to follow and sustain an argument and emphasizing the difference between truth and falsehood, and between fact and feeling.

5. To enable children to acquire the tools and qualifications necessary for earning their living and, when appropriate, for entry into skilled occupations and professions.

6. To seek to measure the extent of an individual's success in making maximum use of his endowments and opportunities.

7. To develop in the school, a caring community, exercising concern and respect for the welfare of others, and emphasizing the overriding importance of good human relations, based upon sensitivity, tolerance and goodwill.

8. To encourage an attitude of positive response to the persistent demands of a changing society, yet, firmly upholding a belief in basic values and standards.

9. To encourage children to appreciate the virtues of collaboration, to foster habits of responsibility and self-discipline, and to promote initiative, endeavor and the exercise of individual judgment.

10. To place the School at the service of the community, and to accept its appropriate share of responsibility for equipping each child to find his own niche in his occupation and in society.

Academic Life
DPS STS School Dhaka believes in “Learning by doing” and an intellectually challenging academicprogram both in and outside the classrooms. Our goal will be to ensure that every pupil gives his or her best and this is being achieved through smallclass sizes of 30 pupils, and close monitoring of pupil progress.

Academic standards are high and are fostered through a sense of purpose and a positive working environment. Well qualified & specialist teachers, who are passionate about their subject provide the knowledge and motivation pupils need to fulfill their academic potential. We are going to prepare the students for IGSE Cambridge International Diplomas (Age group 14-16 years) & subsequently for the A level as AICE Cambridge International Diplomas Cambridge Pre-University (Age Group 16-18 Years). In the academic session 2011-2012, the first batch will take the IGCSE (Cambridge Board) Examination.

Emphasis is put on study skills so that pupils develop responsibility to become independent learners and become self-reliant. Excellence is fostered in a stimulating yet supportive environment and pupils learn to research and extend their knowledge, engaging in individual projects, group work and presentations. Extensive use is made of the library, as children are encouraged not only to read for pleasure but also to develop an appreciation of literature and the use of factual resources. The School possesses an excellent library of fiction, non-fiction and reference books. All classrooms are equipped with multimedia Projector & Computer systems so that the teaching-learning process becomes more meaningful & interesting.
