Japan Centre at Stamford University

A four-member Japanese team lead by Prof. Takashi Uemura met with Vice Chancellor and President of Stamford University (SU) Dr. M. Hannan Feroz recently. Chairman of the Microbiology department prof. Dr. Muhhamad Mujibur Rahman of SU was also present at the occasion.
The purpose of the visit was to see the progress of the Japan Centre at Stamford University. The Japan Centre will be established in association with the Stamford University Bangladesh.
"We have been working closely with Stamford University for the last couple of years, especially since the first Japan-Bangladesh joint international conference held in last December. The function of the centre will be multidimensional," said Prof. Takashi.
According to him the Japan Centre will be a focal point for Japanese collaboration in education, research and business. It will be a meeting place for Japanese entrepreneurs, educationists and researchers; it will also be a display centre of Japanese goods, along with history and culture and it will also organize seminars.
It is hoped that the Japanese language school of the centre will start functioning from April 2007. The centre will be an independent institution where many organizations will be able to interact with each other.

42^nd Orientation at IUBAT
International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBA) held its 42nd Orientation Program for Fall semester 2006 recently at the IUBAT auditorium in Uttara. Mr Mohammad Saiful Islam, IUBAT alumnus and Director, Popular Advertising Ltd gave an inspiring speech. He suggested that the freshmen should take full advantage of IUBAT's global standardized learning facilities to ensure their own success.
In his speech, Vice Chancellor and Founder, Prof Dr M Alimullah Mian narrated his recent visit to Kerala, Belgium, Thailand and France and shared his experiences of educational system in those countries. He distributed the IUBAT Award of Merit Excellence among ten bright students of different semesters. He urged the freshmen to work hard for their own success and to fulfill the IUBAT mission of human resource development to benefit the entire society.

NSU School of Business Faculties awarded in India
Abdul Kader Nazmul and Ahmed Shahriar Ferdous, both Lecturers in the School of Business, North South University jointly presented a case study titled 'Monon Moves On' in the 3rd Renvoi on Case Studies in Management held at Amity Business School, Amity University Noida (UP) India during 22nd-23rd September, 2006. Ninety one case studies from Italy, UK, Bangladesh, Pakistan and India were submitted out of which top five case studies were given merit prize. The authors, Nazmul and Ferdous from Bangladesh representing NSU were awarded with merit prize for their case study presentation which included prize money and certificates as a token of appreciation. It is to be noted that the case study submitted by the NSU faculties was the only case study accepted from Bangladesh.
