On a mission to uncover hidden talent, D-Rockstar2 has swung past three divisions, combing through 31 bands from Khulna, 24 from Barishal, and 17 from Rajshahi.

“ So far we've encountered 3 really good bands in Khulna, 2 in Barishal and 3 in Rajshahi; eligible to compete for the top rounds. Their lyrics, composition, style and overall attitude amazed us.” Says Sajid (D-juice).

BAMBA sitting on the judge's panel seemed to be enjoying every bit of it. Even though the sessions tend to become somewhat aggressive as the judges attempt to impersonate Simon Cowell (of American idol fame).

The comments hit the contestants on an individual level as well as on the group basis; in a particular audition the performing band termed their work as 'harmonic' whereas the judges dismissed the harmonization as 'little better than a defective chorus'. Some bands were advised to replace a particular band member while others had their hearts stomped on by acerbic labels such as “bathroom singer” or pronouncement of 'simply horrendous' followed by a stop-before-we-kill-ourselves expression!

Those were just the lows of the rounds; the bands that actually proved their talents achieved the judge's kudos with encouraging remarks. Some of the bands could actually manage to show before the judges what they were looking for attitude wise; as such with their new style and groundbreaking talents they rose above to find themselves celebrating their triumph after the audition.

The results of all the 6 divisions will be sealed until the last round of audition is over and sent to Dhaka for further screening. Bands will be randomly selected, as there is be no quota per division.

After the three audition rounds the judges felt that most of the contestants were lacking the attitude and expression. So for the aspiring contestants who are yet to hit the spotlight, what the judges are looking for is a performance, not just a rendition. That involves delivery, confidence, showmanship AND talent.

So if you think you can handle the six strings just fine, work harder, douse your drum set with some more perspiration, and bottom's up on the masala tea; for the D-Rockstar is very near to your city!

Catch the back-to-back episodes of the audition rounds on Channel-I every Tuesday and Thursday 7:50 pm.
