Weeklong Parliamentary Debate held in Presidency International

12 October, 2010 was the final session of Annual Parliamentary English Debating Competition 2010 organised by Presidency Debating Club. It took place from 712 October, 2010 in the prestigious Swiss Park Community Centre. On 7 October, School principal Lt-Col.(Rtd) Md. Ziauddin inaugurated the event; two sessions of the opening day were presided over by Chittagong International School Principal Mr. Fazle Aleem. 24 debaters grouped in 6 took part in the point-based competition. On the second day, Mr. Mizanur Rahman Mizan, member of the Academic Committee, PIS and Mr. Borhan Uddin Khondaker, AVP, Trust Bank presided the day's sessions respectively.

The third day's sessions were presided over by Prof. A.M.M. Mujibur Rahman from the Dept. of English, Chittagong College, Chittagong while Prof. Rafiqul Islam from the Dept. of English, Premier University, Chittagong presided the sessions on the fourth day. Renowned literary critic, Prof. A.M.M. Mujibur Rahman was the speaker for the final session. Teams 'Tista' and 'Modhumati' contested on the bill 'Corruption is the main setback to the development of Bangladesh'. In the lively exchange Madhumati came out with flying colours whereas the captain of the runner-up team, Abidur Rahman was judged as the best speaker. Others receiving the 'Best Speaker' title in the first and Semi-Final round are Hisham, Abdullah, Siffat, Omar, Ajmain Rakin & Sadman Monsur.

Nandan Mitra, Naheed Sultana Choudhury, Selina Nargis Daisy, Jasmeen Fatema, Ziaul Alam and Ziaul Hasan were the members of the panel of judges during the weeklong session hosted by English teacher, Jasmeen Fatema.
