Closing Ceremony of the 5th Stamford National Debate Championship Held

Closing ceremony of the 5th Stamford National Debate Championship took place on October 13 at Marriott Convention Center. Minister of Information and Cultural Affairs, Govt. of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, Mr. Abul Kalam Azad MP was present in the ceremony as Chief Guest.

The programme was presided by Prof. Dr. M. A. Hannan Feroz, President, Board of Trustees of Stamford University Bangladesh. Dr. Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury, Secretary, Ministry of Information; honorable members of Board of Trustees of Stamford University Bangladesh, Ms. Fatinaaz Feroz, A. K. M. Enamul Haque Shameem, Md. Zakir Hossain and Md. Murshed Hossain were present as Special Guests. As the Guest of Honor, Md. Mahbubur Rahman, Managing Director of Tung Hai Group attended the programme. At the onset of the programme Prof. Dr. M. Majibur Rahman, Vice Chancellor of Stamford University Bangladesh presented his welcome address.

In Bangla debate, Ideal School won the crown by beating Viqarunnisa Noon School. Honor of the Best Speaker and Debater of the Tournament went to Ritu Alam and Sumaiyatul Ahsan respectively of Viqarunnisa Noon School. In College category Viqarunnisa Noon College and Dhaka College participated in the final debate. Dhaka College came out victorious by beating the opposition. Honor of the Best speaker and Debater of the Tournament went to Muhit Hasan and Zahid Hosain of Dhaka College. In University category Dhaka University Debating Society's two teams Shoparjito Shadhinota and Oparajeyo Bangla participated in the final debate. Shoparjito Shadhinota came out victorious by beating the opposition. Honor of the Best speaker and Debater of the Tournament went to Riasat Ajim and Galib Ibne Anwarul Azim respectively.

In the final round of English Debate of school category, Oxford International School beat Rifles Public School & College to take the victory. Mostofa Monowarul Haque of the wining team was elected as the best speaker. In the University category, IBA, BRAC, LCLS and SDF fought for the championship. LCLS won the battle and took the championship crown. Mr. Anas from the wining team was elected as the best speaker and Zahidul Baki of North South University became Debater of the Tournament. In barowari Zeba Farah Haque of Viqarunnisa Noon School, Nahian Bin Khaled of Dhaka College and Amit Rayhan of North South University took the championship crown.
