ALL SOULS DAY
November 2 is All Souls Day, the day on which the Roman Catholic Church commemorates the death of their loved ones. On this day Christians offer prayers in memory of their dearest person to remove them from all temporal punishment for their sins. We, at Star Campus convey our respect for the departed souls and extend our support to the families who have to bear the agony of losing their friends and relatives and we hope they find strength to move ahead in life.
10th Founding Anniversary Of Badhan Observed At BAU
Badhan, a free blood donation organisation at Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), Mymensingh celebrated its 10th founding anniversary on October 23. Marking the occasion, Badhan chalked out an elaborate programme, which included a variety of activities.
Md. Shohel Rana, General Secretary of Badhan at BAU said that saving lives through blood transfusion is the basic theme of Badhan. From the beginning till today Badhon donated 15,554 bags of blood to the critical patients, said the secretary.
A colorful procession was brought out to mark the occasion and it was followed by a discussion at BAU Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin auditorium .
Badhan BAU president Kazi Moshiur Rahman and Vice-chancellor of BAU Dr. M.A. Sattar Mondal were both present at the ceremony. The Student Affair Adviser Prof. Md. Mustafizur Rahman and Proctor Dr. Abu Hadi Nur Ali Khan were present as special guests.
Representatives from Rajshahi University, Jahangirnagar University, Eden College, Ananda Mohan College, Dinajpur University College and Carmichael College in Rangpur also joined the celebration.

Playpen held its Graduation Ceremony of 2010 outgoing 8th batch and its first CIE batch, on Saturday, 12 June at Emmanuelle's Banquet Hall, Gulshan. RU Fisheries Dept.
celebrates 10 years
The Fisheries Department of Rajshahi University has celebrated their 10th year on October 23. Rajshahi University Vice-Chancellor Prof M. Abdus Sobhan inaugurated the programme as the chief guest at Kazi Nazrul Islam auditorium. Khulna University Vice-Chancellor and also the president of Bangladesh Fisheries Research Forum Prof Shaifuddin Shah, Pro-VC of Rajshahi University Prof Muhammad Nurullah, Dean of Agriculture faculty Prof Sohrab Ali were present in the programme as special guests. The inaugural session was presided over by department chairman Prof. Akhtar Khan.
After the inaugural session, the department organised a rally. They also organised a seminar titled “Fisheries activities in Northern Bangladesh: Sustainable livelihood and climate change aspects” at Senate bhaban.
Speakers urged the government and non-government organisations to increase fish production to fill up the demand of protein as well as to save indigenous fishes from the adverse impact of climate change. They also urged the government to pay attention to the northern region of Bangladesh.
Among other scientists, researchers, development activists Bangladesh Agricultural University Prof Mostafa A R Khan presented keynote paper on the title.
Later, the department held a seminar on "Human Resource Development: A prerequisite for development in Bangladesh" at Kazi Nazrul Islam auditorium.
Seminar on Higher Education
Northern University Bangladesh organised a seminar on 'Higher Education: Performance, Emerging, Issues and Way Forward' at Banani Campus on October 30. Dilip Barua, Minister, Ministry of Industries as the chief guest while the seminar was presided by the vice-Chancellor of Northern University Prof. Shamsul Haque. Prof. Abdul Mannan from University of Liberal Arts, Prof. Syed Anwar Hussain, Editor, The Daily Sun, Zahid Hussain, Senior Economist of World Bank, Md Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan ndc, Secretary of Bridge Division, Ministry of Communication, and Zabed Mostafa, Deputy Secretary of Ministry of Industries were addressed in the seminar.
Among others, NUB Treasurer M Abu Bakar Siddique, Registrar Dr Nurul Islam, Dean of the Faculty of Law Prof AWM Abdul Huq, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities Dr Sadruddin Ahmed, Additional Registrar and Proctor Lt Col. Aqtedar Ahmed Siddikei also attend the seminar.
On the second day of Anniversary programme, a stage drama was staged at Jatia Nattoshala, Bangladesh Shipokala Academy on October 31.On the last day Inter Department Debate Competition and Inter Department Cultural Competition was held at City Campus in Kawranbazar.
EWU Electronics Club Fresher Reception'10
East West University Electronics Club (EWUEC) organised a Fresher Reception in EWU Auditorium on October 27.
In this event Dr. Muniruddin Ahmed, Pro-Vice Chancellor of EWU attended as the Chief Guest while prominent scientist Dr. Mohammad Ali Asgar, Professor, Dept. of ECE, EWU was present as Special Guest. The welcome speech was delivered by Dr. Guru Das Mandal, Moderator, EWUEC where Mr. Mahmudur Rahman Siddique, Lecturer, EEE, Md. Sattar, Proctor, EWU and faculties from different dept were present and more than five hundred students from different dept. enjoyed the event. In the beginning of the programme, club updates were given by Fahmidur Rahman, EC, EWUEC and Photo slide show was presented by Shah Md. Imran.
