Celebration of Harmony

Probarona Purnima, is the second largest festival of the Buddhist community. The festival is also known as Ashwini Purnima.

Buddhists ignite and release 'Fanush' (hot air balloons) into the sky to honour Lord Buddha on the eve of Probarona Purnima soon after sunset. They believe these objects of hope take their prayers directly to heaven. The photographs were taken at Bashabo Buddhist Temple, Dhaka.
