Relief International Distributes Warm Clothes among Street Children at DU Campus

The devastating cold wave sweeping over Bangladesh this winter has caused much suffering among large masses of people, with a high toll to match. Devoid of warm clothes and proper shelter, street children in Bangladesh are the worst affected. On January 22, 2011, Relief International (RI) in collaboration with two youth groups, United Nations Youth and Students Association of Bangladesh (UNYSAB) and Dhaka University Model United Nations Association (DUMUNA) organised to distribute clothes to needy street children at Dhaka University Campus.

The clothes distribution took place at the TSC swimming pool side at DU campus. The event was attended by Professor Dr. A A M S Arefin Siddique, Vice Chancellor of DU, Prof. Dr Mohammad Anwar Hossain, President of Dhaka University Teachers Association (DUTA), Dr. Delwar Hossain, Professor and Chairman of the Department of International Relations, and Saikh Imtiaz, Associate Professor, Department of Gender and Women Studies, DU. Nazrul Islam, Bangladesh Country Director of RI and other RI officials also attended the event.
