Annual Sports and Prize giving

Annual Sports and Prize giving ceremony of UCEP-Hafiz Mazumdar Sylhet Technical School was held on March 5, 2011. Hafiz Ahmed Mazumdar M.P, Chairman of Pubali Bank Ltd. was present at the chief guest. Enamul Habib, UNO, Sylhet Sador and Dr. Kabir H. Chowdhury, Chairman, Academic Council of Scholarshome was present as the special guest in the programme. The programme was chaired by Engr. Mohammad Guljar Hossain, Regional Coordinator of UCEP Sylhet Region. Around 330 underprivileged students attended the programme.


BAU Convocation

The Sixth Convocation of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) was held at BAU Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin auditorium on March 8. Marking the occasion, the whole campus wore a festive look with the arrival of hundreds of students of the present and past days.

President Md. Zillur Rahman, also the chancellor of the university inaugurated the ceremony. He also presided over the inaugural ceremony.

Dr. Prabhu Pingali, Director of Agricultural Policy of the Bill and Mclinda Gates Foundation, USA was the convocation speaker. Vice-chancellor of BAU Prof. Dr. MA Sattar Mandal delivered the welcome speech.

Dr. Prabhu Pingali, the convocation said, the agriculture is the main weapon to bring economic development and to build a nation free from poverty and hunger. So for the development of Bangladesh and the world as well, the agri-scientists here should put more emphasis on their research and study, said Dr. Prabhu Pingali.

A total of 628 graduates, post-graduates and PhD holders participated in the convocation. It was also informed that from June 2000 to 2010, a total of 12693 students completed their graduation under the six faculties of the university. Of the total graduates 6438 students did their masters while 263 did their Ph.D.

Since establishment in 1984, Bangladesh Agricultural University Research System (BAURES) has successfully completed some 1000 projects. Over 150 research project are going on under BAURES.

We regret the errors.
