Workshop on Trade Policy Appreciation

A three day workshop on 'Trade Policy Appreciation Training on WTO and Bangladesh' concluded at the conference room of Faculty of Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) on June 5.
It was organised by Bureau of Socioeconomic Research and Training (BSERT) and funded by Food and Agriculture Organisation. BAU Vice-Chancellor, Dr M A Sattar Mandal, was the chief guest at the closing ceremony.
Professor Md Tofazzal Hossain Miah, Coordinator, Trade Policy Study presided over the closing session.
BAU syndicate member, Dr S M Bulbul, course coordinator, Dr Harun-Ar-Rashid, BSERT Additional Director, Md Abdul Latif Miah, Md Munuruzzaman and Md Mustafizur Rahman also spoke on the occasion.
Later, the chief guest distributed certificates among 24 participants who were college teachers and university students doing their post graduation.
Workshop on carbon emission held at RU
Rajshahi University (RU) organised a daylong workshop on “Carbon Remove” on June 4, 2011. The programme was jointly organised by Rajshahi University, Khulna University, Banghur University and Ghana University.
In the workshop, the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture Professor Sohrab Ali was the chief guest while researcher of Banghur University, Akidi Paskat Okat presented the key note paper as resource. Professor Zahidul Hassan, Dean of RU Life and Earth faculty, inaugurated the workshop.
The Chairman of the Zoology Department Professor Sawdagor Mahfuzur Rahman and Dr Bidhan Chandra Das, project director of DelPHE 4-R project of Bangladesh were also present at the workshop. A large number of students also participated in the day long event.
Tagore's 150th birthday celebration at IUBAT

The 150th birth anniversary of Nobel Poet Kabiguru Rabindranath Tagore was celebrated by International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT). The cultural evening was arranged by IUBAT Cultural Troup.
Dr M Alimullah Miyan, Vice Chancellor spoke briefly focused on multidimensional talents of the poet, saying that the essence of his songs inspired the entire nation during the war of liberation and independence of Bangladesh. Later on, the Vice-Chancellor recited a famous poem of Tagore which was acclaimed by the audience.
Before commencement of the programme, one minute silence was observed to pay honour to Pop Guru Azam Khan who passed away recently. Sudents also participated in the day long event.
Bangladesh goes Overseas
Bangladesh participated in the 'Science Summer Camp' for the first time organised by the National University of Singapore. The programme was held from June 13-17. Apart from four other schools, Oxford International School got the opportunity to represent Bangladesh.
The aim of the Summer Camp was to stir curiosity, foster a lifelong fascination for Science and to explore the latest technology. A team of 26 students and two teachers, Shahriar Parvez and Afroz Al-Mamun participated in the programme on behalf of Oxford International School. The star attractions of the programme were DNA in Forensic Science, to conduct experiments in NUS Lab and also to attend Biodiversity Workshop.
Building career in Bangladesh Armed forces

A grooming session on “Building career in Bangladesh Armed forces” for the students of Daffodil International College and Daffodil International University (DIU) was arranged on June 9, 2011 at DIU Auditorium. Career Development Center, DIU organised the session for exploring job opportunity with Bangladesh Army to motivate young people to join armed forces and prepare them to become ready to sacrifice him/her for their motherland.
Brigadier General Mirza Baker Sarwar Ahmed (NDC, PSC) the President of ISSB was present on the session as the chief guest. Md Sabur Khan, Chairman, Board of Trustees, DIU, Prof. Dr M Lutfar Rahman, Vice Chancellor, Dr Md Mizanur Rahman, Dean, Faculty of Business and Economics, Dr Golam Mawola Choudhury, Proctor and Head, ETE, Professor Dr Syed Akter Hossain, Head, CSE, Syed Mizanur Rahman, Coordinator, CDC were also present in the session.
The President of ISSB shared extensive knowledge from number of UN missions including enormous traveling history around the world. In addition, the students joined the interactive discussion.
Southern University takes a step forward
The Business Administration of Southern University arranged an open advertisement competition titled 'Business for social responsibility'.
Founder and Treasurer of the University Sarwar Jahan inaugurated the competition as the chief guest while Dean of Business Administration Professor Dr Abdul Muktadir and Chair of Business Administration Ishrat Jahan were present among others.
Around five teams participated in the competition and they made different types of advertisement highlighting issues like aids, eve teasing, drags and woman empowerment.
Assistant Professor of Bachelors in Business Administration Kazi Nazmul Huda was in overall supervision of the event.
