A Workshop on APA Referencing Style and E-library

A Workshop on APA Referencing Style and E-library was hosted by East Delta University at EDU campus on October 13, 2011. The workshop was presided over by EDU faculty member, Assistant Professor Rafia Akter. The chief guest of the workshop, Vice Chancellor of EDU, Professor M Sikander Khan said that the university would provide all needed conveniences to faculty members and students. The coordinator of MBA at EDU Associate Professor Dr Mir Md Nurul Absar said that there is no alternative to a better understanding of the right referencing style. He also showed how to use e-library for higher education. The workshop was anchored by EDU faculty and the coordinator of BBA Programme, Tabassum Chowdhury. Among others EDU faculty members Professor Dr Jahangir Alam, Rashed al Karim, Tohfatunnessa, Asaduzzaman, Zakia Sultana, Pulak Barua, Deputy Registrar Sajal Barua and Public Relation Officer Romel Raihan were present in the programme.


Seminar on “Electoral Democracy and Process of Free and Fair Elections in Bangladesh”

The Department of Development and Governance Studies (DDGS), Northern University Bangladesh (NUB) arranged a seminar on 'Process of Free and Fair Elections in Bangladesh' on October 15, 2011 at Dhanmondi Campus in cooperation of Center for Governance Studies. The paper was presented by Dr A T M Shamsul Huda, Chief Election Commissioner of Bangladesh. Azizur Rahman, Former Additional Secretary and Executive Director, Centre for Governance Studies (CGS), Dhaka was the discussant of the seminar. Professor Dr M Shamsul Haque, Vice Chancellor, NUB was the chief guest at the seminar and Professor Dr A Y M Abdullah, Chairman, IBAT Trust, Founding Body of NUB was addressed as the special guest. At the beginning of the seminar Dr Kazi Shahdat Kabir, Head, DDGS, NUB, gave the welcome address.

Among others, Professor Dr Abdul Awal Khan, Dean, Faculty of Business, Professor Dr Md Nurul Islam, Dean, Faculty of Science and Engineering were also present at the seminar.


Graduation Ceremony

London Grace International School recently organised a ceremony for its students on completion of their pre-primary education.

The school premises were colourfully decorated on the occasion titled 'Kindergarten Graduation Ceremony'. Around 27 graduating students were present along with their teachers and parents.

Mafruda Khan Erin, Principal of the school, Sajada Begum and Aleya Ferdousi, Vice Principals of the school, also attended the programme.


Workshop on Tally ERP9 at AIUB

A workshop on Tally.ERP9 was recently organised by the Institute of Professional Development Programmes (IPDP) at the American International University,Bangladesh (AIUB). At the programme, AIUB Business school Dean, Dr Charles C Villanuva, MBA Director Dr Nisar Ahamed, Head of Accounting Department Assistant Professor Mohammad Zakaria Masud, Lecturer Kamrul Bari and also the programme coordinator from IPDP Al-Amin Bhuiyan were present. The workshop was conducted by Md Nurul Islam who is a Tally expert and Md Azharuddin.

A total of 32 students of AIUB attended the workshop on Tally.ERP9. The workshop focused on the importance of learning Tally.ERP9 software applications, which is widely known as the solution to Accounting, Inventory and Payroll Management System.


Beginning of another New Term at Raffles

Raffles Design Institute, Dhaka commenced its October 2011 term with 'Interior design' as a new course of study for Bangladeshi students. This study path synergises with 'Visual Communication' and 'Graphic Design'.

During the orientation day on October 2, 2011 the College Director, Terence Tan, shared with students and parents the necessity of premium education in Bangladesh, especially in Business, fashion and Design.


Workshop on Guti Urea Applicator at BAU

A day long workshop on “Improvement of Guti Urea Applicator” was held at the Teacher Student Conference room of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) on October 9. Organised by Bureau of Research, Testing and Consultation, the inaugural session of the workshop was addressed by the Dr Rafiqul Hoque,Vice-Chancellor, BAU as the chief guest.

Professor Dr A T M Ziauddin presented key-note paper at the workshop. Dean of the Agricultural Engineering and Technology, Professor Dr Abul Khair presided over the workshop.

Professor Dr Md Rafiqul Islam Sarker, Resident Representative, IFDC-Eurasia Division, Ishrat Jahan, Accelerating Agricultural Productivity Improvement (AAPI), Project Coordinator, and Grahame D Hunter, Chief of IFDC were present as special guests.

The workshop was funded by USAID and International Fertiliser Development Center (IFDC).
