EDU Faculty's Research Paper gets Published in India

The coordinator of MBA and Associate Professor at East Delta University, Chittagong, Dr Mir Md Nurul Absar's research paper entitled “Recruitment and Selection Practice in Bangladesh” has been published in the January 2012 issue of the Indian Journal of Industrial Relations. Indian Journal of Industrial Relations is a world famous journal, which is being published for last 47 years.


Intel Teach (Getting Started) Teachers'training Programme 2012

Thirty Two teachers from Adamjee Cantonment College, Bangladesh International School & College and Shaheed Bir Uttam Lt Anwar Girls' College recently attended the four day long intensive INTEL TEACH (Getting Started) TEACHERS' TRAINING PROGRAM 2012 at Adamjee Cantonment College , from Apri 16 to April 21 2012. Colonel Mohammad Saiful Islam, PSC, Principal of Adamjee Cantonment College took the initiative to introduce the Intel Teach Program in Bangladesh for the very first time. The Intel® Teach Program improves teacher effectiveness through professional development. Intel Teach is the largest, most successful programme of its kind with more than 10 million teachers trained in 70 countries.

Malini Mukherjee, Intel certified senior Trainer from India, successfully conducted the training sessions everyday from 8am to 5pm. She trained teachers to integrate technology into their lessons and promote students' problem-solving, critical thinking, and collaboration skills in a 21st Century classroom environment. One of the aim of this training is to develop these 32 teachers as Master Trainers, who would further train teachers of more institutions gradually.


Pahela Baishakh -1419 Celebration in BUFT

On April 14, 2012 Bangali cultural festivals,`Chaitra Sangkranti' and `Pahela Baishakh-1419' were observed at BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) main campus. On the occasion of Pahela Baishakh, the students, faculties and officials took part in the `Mongal Shova Jatra' in the adjacent areas of Uttara with colourful banners and festoons.

In this occasion, a colourful handicraft exhibition was arranged by the students. The exhibition was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Md Ghulam Hussain, Secretary, Ministry of Commerce, Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh. Muzaffur U Siddique, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of BUFT presented a BUFT crest to the Chief Guest and S M Mannan Kochi, VP (Finance), BGMEA & Member, BUFT Trustee Board. The function was attended by Md Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin, President, BGMEA as a Special Guest.


Baishakhi Programme at BUBT

The Cultural Club of Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) organised a Baishakhi Mela and a cultural programme at its permanent campus at Rupnagar to welcome the Bengali New Year, 1419.

The Baishakhi Mela was arranged at 11 am and the cultural program at 3 pm. Both of the events were inaugurated by Professor Md Abu Saleh, the Vice Chancellor of the University.
The Members of the Board of Trustees of the BUBT trust, the Chairman of Departments, the Deans, the Faculty Members and the students attended the Baishakhi programme. Electronic and print media personnel also attended the function.


Celebrating Pahela Baishakh at MBSTU

Sommilito Sangskritic Jote (SSJ) organised a cultural function on the Open Stage at Mawlana Bhasani Science and Technology University (MBSTU) campus in Tangail on April 14 amidst much festivity on the occasion of Pahela Boishakh. They carried out different cultural activites like poetry recitation sessions, traditional song presentation and more. They also performed dances on the stage to make the event more festive. Utpol Kumar Prodhan, the University Assistant Proctor, inagurated the event.


BBA of Northern University completes 'Study Tour'

The department of Business Administration, Banani Campus of Northern University Bangladesh (NUB) arranged a day-long 'Study Tour' on April 11, 2012. Students of spring semester 2012 of BBA, participated in the daylong study tour under the guidance of course instructor Syed Ashik E Elahi of Health and Environment.

The core objective of this tour was to make students aware of non-renewable energy and get feedback from commuters and vehicle operators. The event was conducted at Banani area of Dhaka.


Gagarin Science Fest

On April 12, 2012, Bangladesh Astronomical Association and Russian Centre of Science and Culture, Dhaka in co-operation with Theoretical Physics Department, Dhaka University and The Daily Star started the Gagarin Science Fest. The Science Fest will continue up till June 15, 2012.

The fest includes a number of activities for young science fanatics, whether studying it or not, all across the city. It is being held at the Dhanmondi Club Play Ground, Road 8, Dhanmondi Residential Area. The fest will include a number different classes, workshops and competitions for participants to take part in and will be held every Friday.

On April 12, the inauguration and opening ceremony took place along with a lecture on The Creation of the Universe where Dr Ali Azgar, lecturer of the Physics Department of East West University, spoke on the matter. On the second day of the fest, on April 19, Professor Mofizuddin Ahmed, lecturer of the Physics Department of Brac University, spoke on the History of Astronomy. On 14 April there will be a certificate giving ceremony held for the participants.


Southeast University VC achieved Fellowship

Professor Dr Anwar Hossain, Vice Chancellor of Southeast University achieved Fellowship by the World Business Institute from the 16th International Business Research Conference, which was held from April 12-13, 2012 at Novotel World Trade Center in Dubai. Dr Anwar Hossain delivered his Research Paper and also presided over as the Chair in a Session on the conference.

Professor Anwar graced as the Chief Guest in the closing ceremony which was held at the Crown Plaza in Dubai. The delegates from 36 countries like America, England, Australia, South Africa, Kuwait, Jordan and others attended the two-day long programme. It is noted that the “World Business Institute” has been organised world-wide, and more than twenty conferences on “Business Research” take place every year.


ABAR 71 in BRACU

ABAR 71, a youth network, has been campaigning since 2010 to uphold the spirit of the Liberation war amidst the young generation of Bangladesh. In 2011 it has conducted

Youth camps in every division of Bangladesh. It has also successfully organised campaigns all over the country, raising support in favor of its 11 POINT DEMAND. Currently, students of 66 universities (both public and private) and other institutes are part of the ABAR 71 network.

ABAR 71 TORUN MUKTISHENA JATIO SHOMMELON 2012 has been initited by Bangladesh Muktijodhdha Shonshond, Central Command Council and organised by the Moot Court Society of BRAC University with support from the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs, Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh.

The major demands among 11 points raised by the youth included demand for proper history of liberation war, proper list of freedom fighters, war meuseums in every district, identifying biranganas as Freedom Fighters, secular state and trial of war criminals. The Chief Guest Capt (Rtd) A B Tajul Islam (MP) has highly praised the arguments and reasoning presented by the students in favour of their demands. The honourable minister has also promised to take proper initiative to fulfill the demands of the youth. The event was followed by a Cultural Programme in the memory of liberation war.
