Making the Most Out of Hartal

Our country has been facing political turmoil at its best. People are fighting, arguing, spreading rumours and through this, apparently, trying to make the country a better place to live in (sarcasm intended). The only outcome we have been witnessing from all of this is nothing but a mind-numbing amount of hartals that have been hampering all of our lives in one way or another. The group of people that are facing more problems than most are the students, having to're-study' for exams or sitting idle at home with all the assignments already finished and wanting to even run around the house just to have something to do. But there are more than a few things for one to do in these times of distress.

Reading is probably one of the best things to do to cut loose from boredom. Reading is something that has the ability to take you on a journey that is carved entirely from your imagination. Hartal is probably the best time to just sit back and relax with a warm mug of tea in one hand and your favourite book in the other.

Hartal is the perfect time to catch up on some reading and baking.

If reading is not your thing (If it is not, give it a try. Trust us on this!), then one of the most amusing things to do is to cook! Just pour your heart out into one fabulous dish. You can either download or copy a good recipe from the internet or better yet, make up your own. Just let go and make brilliance in the form of food.

Writing is another very good option when one has nothing to do. Whether it is a poem, a story, a song or just a write-up about your feelings, this is something else that really lets one cool off and feel pressure-free after a hectic week. If not writing, then paint or draw. You never know what you can turn into a masterpiece!

One can also collect a number of old photographs and make a fun and funky collage to stick somewhere in his or her room. This will not only help one kill time but will also help him or her dedicate a whole wall to good memories. Yes, it may feel odd when you catch yourself staring and smiling at a wall, but who else is going to watch right?

And of course, who can miss out using the internet. No, that does not mean sitting in front of facebook all day and night, stalking people and seeing what they are up to. Go on YouTube and buffer videos of things you have always wanted to learn but never had the time to. The video lessons will help you get rid of boredom and also learn new and exciting things!

Apart from YouTube, you can go on Google and learn new ways to make things from scratch. Give a shot, it is totally worth it!

Now that you have more than just a few things to do, there is no need to be upset and moping around during hartals. Get your equipment and hop on it. Make something great out of what started out as a dull day!
