Silly Tales

A Narrow Escape

During my school days, my friends and I used to play peculiar games during recess. We would invent new ones almost every day. One day among a so called, “fun” game turned out to be quite a disaster. As my school was inside the BUET campus area, there were two university labs in front of our play ground. One lab had huge windows and since they were very old, some of the glasses were cracked and had huge holes on them. We decided to throw small rocks through the holes and whoever had the most rocks inside would win the game. I got so carried away with the game that, before I realised what I was doing, I picked up a huge rock and threw it in the wrong spot and within seconds there was a huge smash! We ran and hid in a classroom. After some time, when we thought that everything was back to normal, we all went outside and saw that the Class 4 boys where being punished for the broken glass instead of us since they were also playing near the labs!

The Terrible First Day

It was my first day of school that year. My mother suggested that I should not do anything unusual. From the moment she gave me this advice, I had an involuntary temptation to do something clumsy. I was standing on the second floor of my school and staring at the green field in front. I realised that I was too early to school and could not find any teacher or student. Suddenly, I spat without noticing anyone, and it directly went and landed on one of my English teachers' bald head. I started trembling with fear. I rushed to my classroom and hid under a bench. I was just praying that no one would realise that it was me. The funny part was that the teacher was the one who took the first class and had to call out our names for attendance and since it was our first day, he did not know who I was and could not figure out that it was I who spat on his head!

A Very Scary Night

When I lived in a student's hostel, my roommates and I used to read books till midnight. One night we were reading like any other day when we heard a noise -- small ankle bells ringing somewhere. We ignored it the first time. But we heard this mysterious sound again after two days. On the third day, we also heard dogs barking along with that same sound. We were scared but also curious to find out where the sound was coming from. We spoke to the other girls and decided to find out. At midnight, we heard the sound again and gathered at the corridor to search on the nearby rooftops. But we were disappointed since we found nothing. When we were busy discussing the possible sources, our attention was broken by one of the girl's screams. She pointed at the bottom of our building and we all looked and were all utterly shocked! It was nothing but a dog wearing bell in its neck. As it walked around, the bells rang and made a mysterious noise. We felt silly and could not stop laughing at ourselves!
