Sports on Campus

The Sports Club of Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) organised an 'Intra University Indoor Games Competition-2012' at its permanent campus at Rupnagar.

The competition was a five day programme arranged at the university campus, from June 9-13. The programme was inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor of the university Professor Md Abu Saleh; Pro vice Chancellor Professor Md Ali Azam, Deans of different Faculties, Proctor Professor Mian Lutfar Rahman, the Registrar, the Chairmen of different Departments, the faculty members and the students attended the opening ceremony.


Seminar on Higher Education in France and Internship

Career Services Office organised seminars on “Higher Education in France" and “Internship Orientation Summer'12” on May 24, 2012 in the BRAC University Indoor Games Room. The seminar provided information on potential and prospects of higher studies in France needed preparations for final semester students. Air Cdre (Retd) Mr Ishfaq Ilahi Choudhury, Registrar, BRAC University opened the session.

Mr Arnaud LOIZEAU, Attaché for Culture and Cooperation, Embassy of France in Bangladesh was the key speaker in the seminar. Ms Asma Banu, explained information before planning for of higher studies. At the last part of the seminar, the final year students of BRAC University participated in the question, answer session most enthusiastically.


MoU signing between Bradford College and Bangladesh University

A MoU was signed on June 24, 2012 between Bradford College (UK) and Bangladesh University for collaboration in academic, professional and research development. Professor Dr Golam Ali Fakir, Vice Chancellor in charge, Bangladesh University and Mr Adil, Regional Head, Bradford College (UK) signed on behalf of their respective sides.

Both the institutions agreed to exchange Students and will enter into further progress to promote research through the collaboration.

Nahareen Choudury, Registrar in charge, Quazi Taif Sadat, Overseas Coordinator and Mr Shohel Ahsan Nipu, Senior Assistant Registrar Bangladesh University were present.


M A Kashem and Benajir Ahmed re-elected as Chairman and Treasurer

MA Kashem and Mr Benajir Ahmed, Founder Life Members of North South University have been unanimously elected as the Chairman and Treasurer of the Endowment Committee of the NSU Foundation respectively at its 20th Annual General Meeting held on June 21, 2012. They have been elected for the year 2012-13 for the 3rd consecutive term. Earlier, both of them served as Chairman of the Foundation. The NSU Foundation is the founder of NSU, the first private University of the country.

Mr Kashem is an eminent entrepreneur of the country. Currently he is the Chairman of JK Group of Companies. He is the former President of the Federation of Chamber of Commerce and Industries and the founder Chairman and Director of South East Bank Ltd.

On the other hand, Mr Benajir Ahmed is a reputed industrialist and the Chairman and Managing Director of Raymond Group of Industries. He is the past President of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industries (DCCI) and former CIP of the country.


Traditional Sports Festival Organised at East West University

On June 18, EWU Environmental and Social Club arranged a traditional sports festival for the students to re-orient the students with our past heritage.

To organise this event, the whole campus was wonderfully decorated with colorful danglers and banners. The event drew huge attention of the crowd and a large number of students participated in various games.


IUB Music Club organises “Musical Extravaganza”

IUB Music Club organised its first-ever musical event on June 21, 2012 at the multipurpose hall of the university at Bashundhara. Professor M Omar Rahman, Vice-Chancellor, IUB, graced the event as the chief-guest. In his speech, Professor Omar emphasised on the importance of participating in extra-curricular activities and appreciated the musical effort initiated by IUB Music Club. Among others, Registrar Dr Tanvir Ahmed Khan, Chief Advisor of IUB Music Club Dr Shahidul Alam and the coordinator of IUB Music Club Mr Parvez A.


English in Action Fairs launched around the country

English in Action (EIA), a large-scale English language programme funded by the UK Government, through UKaid (the Department for International Development) has launched a country wide English in Action Fair programme. The fairs started from June 4, 2012 in Nababgonj and Sunamgonj. The series of fairs titled as “Ananday Shiki Engreji- English in Action Mela-”will take place at 70 upazilas around the country within next few months.

These fairs aim to reach all section of people providing them with a unique and unprecedented opportunity to experience, access and use the English in Action methods and practices. The fairs will promote the message of English Learning through easy and entertaining way, an innovative way of supporting the pedagogical method of English Learning. The fairs are being organised with close collaboration of Upazila Education Offices. The fairs are inaugurated in different upazilas by UNO, USEO, UEO and local community members.


Graduation Ceremony

Scholastica Senior Section, Uttara organised a grand Graduation Ceremony for Class X on June 26, 2012 at the STM Hall of the Senior Section.

Korvi Rakshand, Founder of JAAGO Foundation and Alumni of Scholastica graced the occasion as the chief guest.

A total of 263 O Level Students of May/June 2012 Examinations sat for exams under Cambridge International Examination-Board and were awarded graduation certificate from Scholastica by the chief guest.

Wasima Parveen, Director and Chief Operating Officer, Scholastica Ltd graced the occasion as the special guest.

This year the theme of the programme was Festivals of Bangladesh where students of Scholastica depicted different seasons and festivals of Bangladesh through songs and dances.


First Reunion Programme of Daffodil International College

In observance of 10 years of Daffodil International College the students of Daffodil International College organised first reunion programme at Daffodil International University Auditorium on June 1, 2012. Md Saabur Khan, Chairman, Daffodil International College and Daffodil Group was present as the chief guest. Dr Md Fokhray Hossain, Registrar, Daffodil International University and Mr Syed Mizanur Rahman, Coordinator, Career Development Center, DIU were present as the special guests.
