Demise of the education system

In our country those who are in positions of power, tend to focus their attention solely on improving education at the primary, secondary and higher secondary levels. Various members of the ruling party and even the Education Minister have overlooked the plight of those of us who are studying at the NU (National University). Four years have passed since being admitted in the honours course, but till date we have not received our second year results. We have no idea how long it will take for us to get our results. There are a great number of students who are studying in the NU and most come from middle class families. It is important for these students to finish their education, obtain a degree and get a job to help support their families So, we ask the government and the authority of NU to please let us be free from this corrosive session jam, and take our exams and publish our results on time.

Traffic Congestion: Struggle to get home

Traffic gets worse during Ramadan causing intolerable suffering for commuters. There are other matters now that have worsened the situation such as potholes, excavation work and multiple flyovers. No wonder the roads are in horrible state. Moreover, during the Ramadan, offices and universities, both end at 3pm, for which there is mad rush during that time. Students have to deal with poor (or no) transportation, waiting in long queues, price hikes of tickets and what not. They reach home tired and broken. Bus conductors are not that cooperative either, and we can't really blame them, because they have to make ends meet by earning. DCC, RHD, WASA, Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company and Power Grid Company of Bangladesh should work in a united way to ease the hardship of city residents.

Subjects that are must!

English is an important language of the current times, there's no doubt about that. And people do not only have to rely on text books to learn English. It's quite impossible to become a global individual without the knowledge of English. Along with that, one should also have computer skills to survive in the current techno-centric world. Computer knowledge and technology can speed up so many administrative processes in universities and offices. If we can provide proper English and computer knowledge to people, the people can become better at communications, with people of not only the country, but also the world. Therefore, our education sector should emphasize more on such subjects.

Let there be right decision

Syed Abul Hussain, ex-communication minister, has finally stepped down from ICT ministry and Md Mosarrof Hossain Bhuiyan, Former Bridge Division Secretary, has gone on leave as per the fourth condition of the World Bank. The government's declaration to erect the 6.15 km bridge with the national fund put people into panic momentarily. The government should persuade the World Bank, without delay, to reconsider the cancellation of the loan. The opposition should also come forward for the sake of the country by not using the project as political tool. I hope that the World Bank reviews the loan for the bridge, because the bridge can bring in many economic benefits.
