Study Tour

A group of 40 Mechanical Engineering students of International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) recently went on a study tour to a power plant near Dhaka to see its operating system. The student group of IUBAT visited 100 MW HFO (Heavy Furnace Oil) Power Plant of Orion Group by the side of river Meghna in Narayanganj. The activity package of the academic venture included practical orientation on different aspect of the technology, briefing on production system and operational activities.

Engineer Abdul Wadud, Coordinator, Department of Mechanical Engineering of IUBAT led the academic excursion for guiding the young mechanical engineering students to extract maximum benefit out of the expedition. Under the supervision of technical personnel the students watched different sites of the project.

Mustak Uddin Ahemmed, Executive Engineer of the plant briefed operational system and answered queries of the students. The students were taken to the central workshop to see the repairing works of the damaged parts and equipments.


Outstanding Leadership of Higher Education in Bangladesh

DR Mohammed Farashuddin, President Board of Trustees, East West University, Founder Vice Chancellor, East West University and former Governor, Bangladesh Bank, has been recognised and awarded by Bloomberg University of Pennsylvania, USA for his outstanding leadership in the area of higher education in Bangladesh. This award was bestowed on Dr Mohammed Farashuddin in a ceremony held on July 10, 2012 at the Bloomberg University of Pennsylvania, USA. East West University community is proud of this achievement and congratulates Dr Mohammed Farashuddin.


MoU signing between Bradford College and Bangladesh University

A MoU was signed on Sunday, June 24, 2012 between Bradford College (UK) and Bangladesh University for collaboration in academic, professional and research development. Professor Dr Golam Ali Fakir, Vice Chancellor in charge, Bangladesh University and Adil, Regional Head, Bradford College(UK) signed on behalf of their respective sides.

Both the institutions agreed to exchange students and will enter into further progress to promote research through the collaboration.

Nahareen Choudury , Registrar in charge, Quazi Taif Sadat, Overseas Coordinator and Shohel Ahsan Nipu, Senior Assistant Registrar Bangladesh University were present.


Training workshop

A training workshop on CSR and Business Strategies and Policies was held on July 19, 2012 jointly organised by School of Business of Presidency University and corporate social responsibility center held at Aman Conference Hall. Professor Muhammad Mahboob Ali, Head of the school was present at the seminar. The chief guest was Shahamin S Zaman, CEO, Corporate Social Responsibility centre. In the programme Shahamin S Zaman argued that Bangladesh can stimulate economy through arranging proper corporate social responsibility in the business sector.


Special Seminar on Stress Management

IBAIS University Tourism Development Forum ( ITDF) with Wellness Club organised a seminar with the slogan 'A satisfying life within Reach' on 'Fighting Stress and Introducing Meditation' on July 26,2012 in the IBAISU Auditorium. Professor Dr Belal Husain Joy, Dean, Faculty of Humanities and Law, chaired the seminar. Among others, Professor Mohammed Ahsan Ullah, Head, BTHM and Registrar (acting), Shaikh M Alauddin, Controller of Examinations, were present. The faculty members and students enjoyed the presentation.


One Day Camp for Rovers

DIU Air Rover Unit of Daffodil International University organised a day long “One Day Camp” at BAF Shaheen College recently. Group Captain Syed Shakil Ali, Commissioner, Dhaka District Air Scout was present at the closing ceremony as the chief guest and distributed prizes among the rovers.

Presided over by Md Anowar Habib Kazal, Deputy RSL DIU Air Rover Unit, the programme was attended by Abdul Mumit Chowdhury, Secretary, Dhaka District Air Scouts and Fatlul Haque Pasha, Assistant Director, Community Development, Bangladesh Scout.

The training was conducted by Md Anowar Habib Kazal, Deputy RSL DIU Air Rover Unit in association with Thunder Cats Girls in Air Rover group RSL.

Addressing as the chief guest group Captazin Syed Shakil Ali, Commissioner, Dhaka District Air Scout said, scouting can play a vital role in developing career and building character of a student though which students can practice becoming a successful leader and contribute a lot to the society.


Opening Ceremony

Opening Ceremony of Music Planet School new campus was held on July 10, 2012. At the great occasion Musicians Fuad Naser Babu, Adviser, Labu Rahman, School Department Head, Saifuddin Saki, Managing Director, Shabbir Ahmed, Director were present. Alongside, others Teachers and students were also present at the programme.


Tree Plantation and Distribution Programme held at MBSTU

On July 29, 2012, tree plantation and distribution programme was held at Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University (MBSTU) organised by Rotaract club of Mawlana Bhashani Tangail.

Professor Dr M Nurul Islam, Vice chancellor, MBSTU, inaugurate the programme by planting trees at Shohid Jononi Jahanara Imam Hall at university campus and distributing the trees among the students of different institution.

Mohammad Omar Faruk, Proktor, Dr A K M Mohiuddin, Dean, Faculty of Life Science and Associate Professor, Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering Department, Md Shahadat Hossain, Register, MBSTU, and other members were present at that time.


Talent Hunt

The third season of country's first ever competition for textile, garments and fashion designing students, Textile Talent Hunt (TTH 2012) has been launched in a gala ceremony at National Press Club on July 18, 2012. Chief guest Professor Dr N C Sutradhar launched the events in the presence of hundreds of teachers, students, professionals and journalists.

The seminar started with the welcome presentation by Tareq Amin, Managing Director of the organising company Amin and Jahan Corporation Ltd. There will be different seminars and promotional programmes in these campuses to encourage students to participate in the most prestigious internationally recognised competition event. TTH 2012 is being organised in association with Bangladesh University of Textiles, Bangladesh Textile Mills Association and The Textile Institute-UK. Like the 2nd season, renowned multinational company Intertek is the title sponsor of the event. TTH 2012 is being sponsored by Asutex-Spain and Dysinchem is the Prize Money Sponsor of the event.
