Edexcel Awards the High Achievers of International GCSE and GCE A Level students of 2012 exams

Edexcel, the largest awarding body in the UK and a part of Pearson, conducted its first Academic Award Ceremnony for the students who achieved outstanding results in their International GCSE and GCE A Level examinations in 2012. The award ceremony was held in the Hall of Bangabandhu International Conference Centre, Dhaka and more than 1300 students, teachers, parents and distinguished guests attended this event.

There were 345 awardees who received Edexcel High Achievers' Awards in three different categories. There were 223 students who received awards for obtaining minimum seven 'A' Grades in one sitting in international GCSE (formerly known as O level) subjects, 74 students received awards for obtaining minimum four 'A' Grades in one sitting in GCE A Level subjects and the last category was for the 48 students who achieved the world’s highest marks in individual subjects.

Hasanul Haq Inu MP, Minister of Information, People's Republic of Bangladesh was present in this grand award ceremony of Edexcel as the chief guest and distributed the certificates. Nick Low, The Deputy High Commissioner of British High Commission, Rosemary Arnott, Director British Council and Isabel Sutcliffe, Director of Pearson Assessment were also present as special guests.

Hasanul Haq Inu in his speech, thanked both, Edexcel and British Council authority for organising this event. He said, recognising the outstanding achievement of these brilliant students will work as a great encouragement for their future study and career through which, our country will be benefitted. He also said that our country needs more scientists, doctors, and researchers who can help develop the economy of Bangladesh and change the quality of lives. He also added that we all have to come forward and think how we can improve the quality of education in our rural area and for poor people who can also take the advantage of this quality education.
