Daffodil International University (DIU) organised a seminar on 'Outcome Based Education (OBE) Learning to Learn' on December 23, 2012 at DIU auditorium. Professor Dr M Lutfar Rahman, Vice Chancellor, DIU was present as the chief guest while Professor Dr Muhammad H Rashid, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of West Florida, USA was present as the keynote speaker. The seminar was conducted and moderated by Professor Dr Aminul Islam, Emeritus Professor, DIU.
4th Biochemistry Olympiad

Dhaka University hosted 4th Biochemistry Olympiad 2012 at Curzon Hall on December 22, 2012. More than 1,000 SSC/O level and HSC/A level students from Dhaka and other districts participated in the biggest festival of bioscience in the country. The daylong programme featured quiz examination, poster exhibition, discussion session and award ceremony. Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of Dhaka University has been organising Biochemistry Olympiad annually since 2009. BRAC Bank has been extending support to the programme since its inception.
IBA Invitational Debate 2012

IBA Invitational Debate 2012, sponsored by Manusher Jonno Foundation and Coats Bangladesh, kicked off on December 1, 2012 with the theme, 'Think, Communicate' and came to an end after a battle of wits among 19 top universities of the country.
Arranged by IBA Communication Club (IBACC), this year 38 teams competed in the university level tournament and in both Bengali and English tournaments. Dhaka University Debating Society 'Shoparjito Shadhinata' became the champion and United International University became the runners up. Omar Faruk Fahim strood as the best speaker of the finale whereas, the best speaker of the tournament (Bangla) was Ariful Haq.
Green University Observed National Victory Day-2012

Green University of Bangladesh (GUB) arranged a discussion programme to celebrate the National Victory Day 2012 of Bangladesh on December 16, 2012 at the GUB auditorium. Acting Vice-Chancellor of GUB, Professor Dr Quazi Deen Mohd Khosru presided over the programme. The teachers and students paid respect to the martyrs of the Liberation War by commemorating banquet at the National Monument at Savar.
Scientific Thinking to Combat Environmental Challenges

The Department of Environmental Science of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) organised a day-long Environmental Science Colloquium titled 'Scientific Thinking to Combat Environmental Challenges' on November 22, 2012, at its permanent campus. The colloquium was organised to encourage the students to take science as a building block of their future endeavour. While inaugurating, the chief guest Professor M Omar Rahman, Vice-Chancellor, IUB, appreciated the organisers for arranging this colloquium and advised students to enrich their scientific know how by doing more research on environmental challenges.
Students report to Ambassador Sadoshima
on their recent Japan visit
On December 19, 2012, nine Bangladeshi high school and 15 university students, reported to the Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Shiro Sadoshima at his residence after returning from the KIZUNA (Bond) youth exchange programme held in Japan recently. Kizunayouth exchange programme was initiated by the government of Japan to the SAARC countries to reaffirm and strengthen the bond between Japan and SAARC countries through various visits, workshops and other activities.
Graduation Ceremony at Summerfield International School

Recently Summerfield International School organised a Graduation Ceremony to recognise the achievements of it's 'O' Level graduates. The ceremony was held on December 21, 2012 at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC), Dhaka. The ceremony was graced by chief guest Professor Ahmed Shafee, Vice-Chancellor of East West University and Anjum Husain, Chairperson and Principal, Summerfield International School along with the other directors of the school.
Convocation 2012 of WUB held
The second convocation of World University of Bangladesh (WUB) was held at Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) on December 23, 2012. A total of about 2300 students of seven departments were awarded the Bachelor and Master degrees. Engr Mohammad Harun-Or-Rashid obtained the Chancellor's gold medal for securing a CGPA 4.00 out of 4.00 in B Sc in Mechatronics Engineering programme.
