For A Brave New World!

While turning over the pages of the Star Campus last week, some lines from the spotlight caught my attention. I read the full article by Saad Adnan Khan in a breath. It was about the eccentric student politics as well as the standoff political situation of Bangladesh. One line from the article that attracted me most was,'lies are concocted openly, even though there are more than enough evidence to prove otherwise' the writer wrote about the murderer of Bishwajit. What is heart-breaking is that politicians are blaming each other over this issue. It is highly unfortunate that our political parties use their student-bodies to deter their opponents. This malicious custom needs to be stopped. We have earned a reputation to say nothing about the oppressions that are going on around us. This is high time that we rise up and eliminate all forms of injustice.

For An Enlightened Nation!

Libraries are storehouses for knowledge. But it's a shame that in our country many schools do not provide library facilities to their students. A few public and private libraries, which are open to mass people, are also in a very bad state. As a result, the habit of book reading is losing its popularity in our society and students nowadays hardly become members to any library. We should improve the sorry state of our libraries. The major libraries can also introduce e-books on their websites, so that their members can read books from any place they like. If we want to develop as an enlightened nation, every citizen of our country should have access to libraries.

Crisis On The Two-Wheelers!

A couple of days ago my mom and I were standing in front of the Army Stadium in the evening, looking for a CNG auto-rickshaw. As everyone knows that finding a CNG is almost impossible during rush hours. However, we eventually found one, the driver asked for TK 500 to go to Gulshan 1. Though the amount was way too much, my mom and I agreed to go. But when we sat down, the driver told us to say to the traffic police that the CNG driver is abiding by the Price Meter. So we were supposed to pay extra as well as tell lies for getting on a CNG. I sincerely ask the concerned authority to introduce enough public transport on the road and save us from such harassment.

To Spread Religious Harmony

This is an age where we all are heading towards a society where religious harmony prevails. We now respect every religion and take part in different religious festivals irrespective of which religion we belong to. Be it Durga Puja or Christmas or Eid, the main attraction and ritual that comes very first in mind, is the get together, having food and sharing joy. This is a sign that by these changing patterns we are actually becoming united and coming close to each other. We are getting to know the tradition, customs and history of other religions. Learn whatever you can from everything—this should be our motto in this age and we should try to strengthen our unity as a nation and spread religious harmony in all possible aspect.
