The Gift of Old Age

A Photo Feature by Prito Reza

The elderly, though usually treated with respect in our culture, are not always given their due in terms of their contribution to family and society, sometimes considered a burden rather than a blessing. Not only did they make significant contributions to the nation's politics, culture and economy throughout their lives, but even in old age they continue to be our guide and refuge.

On the occasion of International Day of Older Persons, Forum takes the opportunity to pay tribute to the shoulders that have helped lift our burdens, the hands that have steadied our own and the eyes that have seen far beyond anything we ever could.

Prito Reza is a freelance photojournalist.

Forum thanks the Boyoshko o Shishu Punorbashon Kendra in Gazipur and the Probin Hitoishi Kendra in Agargaon, Dhaka for their cooperation.
