Celebration of architecture at AIUB

The department of Architecture of the American International University Bangladesh (AIUB) arranged the Architecture Week "Event Arch" from July 19 to 22, 2007 to enhance interaction among students, educators and professional of Architecture and thus boost quality architecture in the country. The founder chairman of AIUB, Dr. Anwarul Abedin and the Vice Chancellor Dr. Carmen Lamagna inaugurated the event. This was initiated and coordinated by Dr. M. Saleh Uddin, Head of Architecture Department and his fellow faculty members. The primary highlights of this four day event included a Lecture series by the experts and specialists, a Day long Student Design ('Charettee') Competition, Film Shows on the world famous architectural edifices and finally a Cultural Program By AIUB architecture students. The participation for design school was open to 1st to 3rd year students of all architecture schools in Bangladesh. All participating students were divided in two groups. VISTAARA Architect's Millenium Holdings and Assurance Developments jointly sponsored the design competition.

The distinguished judges included Professor Shamsul Wares, Professor Abu H. Imamuddin, Architect Mustapha Khalid Polash, Md. Foyezullah from VISTAARA Architects and Architect Enamul Karim Nirjhor. The winning teams received cash awards at the closing ceremony of this four-day event.
