Seminar titled 'Psychology and You'
Says Harvard University's Research Co-ordinator Yeshim Iqbal

"We all must come forward to combat the psychological disorder of others. The problem becomes acute if it is not cured at the initial stage”, said Yeshim Iqbal, Research Co-ordinator, Laboratory for Development Studies, Harvard University, United States of America in a seminar.

Office of student counseling and guidance, SUST and Shahjalal University Debating Society jointly organised the seminar titled 'Psychology and You' at the university campus on January 6, 2011.

“More than one million people commit suicide around the world yearly. It is the second leading cause of death in adolescents while road accident is the top one”, explained Yeshim, keynote speaker of the seminar.

Yeshim also argued for a counseling body in every university consisting of clinical psychologists and sociologists.

In the keynote paper she explained social psychology, development of psychology, clinical psychology, suicide and initiatives for overcoming psychological crisis in the perspectives of contemporary society.

After the keynote presentation a question answer session was held where Yeshim Iqbal answered many questions from both students and teachers including Dr. Mohammed Zafor Iqbal, Dr. Susanta Kumer Das, Dr. Mohammed Younus, Dr. Tulshi Kumer Das, Dr. Abdul Gani, Farjana Siddiqua Rony, Nikhilendu Dev and others.
