Think outside the box: Beard fashion!

You should keep a beard because quite simply it makes you look good. Now that depends on how well you groom and stop it from getting wild. Of course, there are old school men and women who are anti-beard; because they subscribe to the age old belief that beard is for the lazy and untidy. That belief can be true, only if you do not love your beard, because the kind of beard you sport reflects your personality. Young university going men with facial hair, are sometimes in a dilemma whether to keep a beard or not, more importantly regarding 'how' to keep a beard. The answer to the former is YES you should keep a beard, but not when you are clueless; the answer to the latter is don't worry, you don't need onion juice or henna to flourish your beard, but just a little bit of care and patience.

Beard can be vital when it comes to looks and enhance the facial features you are proud of. Beard can also be used to 'de-enhance' features you are not proud of like the double chin about which you really cannot do anything at times. But let's get down to the real beard talk. A beard makes you look wise and learned, if you wear specs (or not) and if you are into literature, history and politics. Beard can also help you with the carefully careless look that goes hand in hand with messy hair, bright t-shirts (or shirts with folded sleeves), skinny jeans and a pair of converse or slippers. A neatly trimmed beard can sharpen your features like your jaw or nose. Stubbles make you look approachable and friendly. Sometimes one can be way too busy with part time job, volunteering and studies to shave, for which be fine and comfortable in your skin. A beard makes you look like a maverick, a rebel, an intellect and a person who is rooted and down to earth.

Styles of beard vary depending on facial structure. Now of course only you can determine what looks good on you. So start exploring! Stop shaving and start trimming! Try and keep stubble along with a flat goatee and thin side burns, see how you look. Try the stubble without the goatee and side burns (or vice versa) and see if it suits you or not. You can be creative and start grooming your beard in different patterns as well (of course make sure that you do not traumatise people- some people can get carried away). Experiment with thick, light, curved, straight, striped, flat, broad and slim stubble, side burns, goatee and moustache. Trim your stubble so that it doesn't crawl all over your cheeks and remain dull and droopy. Also be aware of what you are doing if you are preparing for class presentations or interviews- try something toned down like flat goatee and side burns. Of course you can rely on someone you trust when it comes to fashion, but a beard should be kept based on your individual personality and so you should be the foremost judge.

You can go to the salon and give directions to the hair dresser to cut and groom your beard-- most of the times, the experience turns into an ordeal. You get your own trimming kit according to your convenience. You can get the Philips brand for BDT 4000. It is a little costly, but it is worth in the long run. You do not have to get into messy and confusing discussions with your hair dresser regarding intricate patterns that you want to apply on your beard. You can sit at home, let down your guard and comfortably explore your preferences. The trimmers come with different clips, which you can use to control the amount of beard you decide to trim. The instructions are very clearly mentioned-- so do not panic!

Beard can be an essential requirement when it comes to campus fashion. Your personality can be expressed fully once you start utilizing and grooming your beard, along with your attire, shoes and other accessories. Beard gives substance to your face, unlike a boring, clean shaved face. So turn your beard into a fashion element and have fun with it!
