Fourth Citi Financial Quiz Competition

The Grand finale and prize giving ceremony of the fourth Citi Financial Quiz Competition, funded by Citi Foundation, in collaboration with Independent University Bangladesh, (IUB) was held on December 17, 2011 in Dhaka.

A total of 12 business schools from public and private universities across Bangladesh participated in a highly competitive preliminary and semi final rounds.

In the final round of the competition, the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) of the University of Dhaka went head to head with Independent University Bangladesh. The winning team, Institute of Business Administration, University of Dhaka won a grand prize of US$3000 equivalent taka amount.

Dr Mohammed Farashuddin, former Governor of Bangladesh Bank was the chief guest of the event and awarded prizes to the winners.


IUBAT Convocation-2011

Convocation-2011 of International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) was held on December 21 at its permanent campus in Uttara.

President of the People's Republic of Bangladesh and Chancellor of IUBAT Md Zillur Rahman was present at the convocation.

Professor Gerald Reisinger, President, Upper Austria University of Applied Sciences, Austria, globally acclaimed academics arrived in Dhaka on December 20 to grace the occasion as Convocation Speaker. Dr Hasan Mahmud, MP, Minister for Environment and Forest was present at the convocation as special guest.


Grand finally of Asians British Parliamentary Debate Championship

The grand finally of the NSU Asian British Parliamentary Debate Championship 2011' was held at the Rupashi Bangla Hotel recently.

The final of the parliamentary debate between India and Malaysia was held in the evening and the team namely RPO India became champion.

Md Shajahan, Chairman, NSU Foundation was present as chief guest and handed over the trophy to the winning teams. Dr Hafiz GA Siddiqi, the Vice Chancellor of NSU chaired the closing session of the five day long international competition. Among others M A Kashem, past Chair of the NSU Foundation, Treasurer, NSU, Faculty and admin members of NSU were present.


View Exchange Programme

Rajshahi Campus of Northern University Bangladesh (NUB) organised a view exchange programme at Hotel Aristocrat in Rajshahi on December 11, 2011. Professor Dr Abu Yousuf Md Abdullah, Chairman Northern University Bangladesh Trust was the chief guest in the programme. Professor Dr M Shamsul Haque, Vice-Chancellor of NUB chaired the programme. Mosharrof Hossain, Coordinator, Rajshahi Campus of NUB conducted the programme.

Chief guest Professor Dr Abu Yousuf Md Abdullah said that the private universities of Bangladesh are providing quality education, presently.


Victory Day Celebration
40 Years of Victory
National Victory Day Observed

Presidency University organised a day long programme on December 16, 2011. A seminar on “Emergence of Bangladesh and Glorious Victory Day” was organised.

In the seminar Vice Chancellor of the university Professor Dr Anwar Hossain presided over while, Professor of English Department, University of Dhaka and Poet Khandokar Ashraf Hossain was present as the chief guest.

The programme was conducted by S M Abdus Shakur, Convenor of Business Club and Lecturer of the university.

The programme was followed by a documentary Muktir Gan and students also recited poetry and sang several patriotic songs.

Daffodil International University (DIU) authorities led by Vice-Chancellor Professor Lutfar Rahman and accompanied by Founder Vice-Chancellor and Emeritus Professor Aminul Islam placed wreaths at the National Memorial at Savar in the early morning of December 16, 2011 to pay glowing tributes to the martyrs.

To mark the day DIU Cultural Club organised a grand cultural programme titled “Pure Culture, True Nature” at the university premises. The students participated in the programme.


A Day Long Event

Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) of Northern University Bangladesh (NUB) arranged a day-long 'Get-together' on December 15, 2011 at Banani Campus. A discussion programme was organised on the occasion. Professor Dr M Shamsul Haque, Vice-Chancellor, NUB was the chief guest in the discussion while Engineer M Badiuzzaman, Head, Department of EEE Chaired the programme.

The Department of BBA of Banani Campus organised a day-long 'Semester Ending Celebration' on the same date. Professor Dr M Shamsul Haque, VC, NUB inaugurated the programme as the chief guest.


Admission Fair held at SUB

State University of Bangladesh (SUB) held a three day long “Admission Fair 2011” from December 7-10 at its auditorium.

Dr A M Shamim, President, Board of Trustees, SUB, inaugurated the “Admission Fair 2011” on December 7. Professor Iftekhar Ghani Chowdhury, Vice-Chancellor of SUB was also present there.

Three different seminars were held during the three days. A seminar titled “Pharmacy Education: Present and Future” was held at seminar room by Department of Pharmacy. Abdul Muktadir, Managing Director of Incepta Pharmaceuticals Ltd and Secretary General, Bangladesh Aushad Shilpa Shamity were present as chief guests in the seminar.
