International Women's Day Celebration

Asian University for Women

The inaugural programme of WEE Foundation has just been celebrated on the eve of International Women's Day at the Asian University for Women (AUW) in Chittagong. The motto of the WEE Foundation on celebrating this day was to include both men and women who believe that both genders should have equal rights as human being. The programme was a huge success with the participation of students of AUW who came from different countries including Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Pakistan, Bhutan, Vietnam, Cambodia, and many more.

North South University and GPIT Ltd jointly organised a seminar at NSU's own campus at Bashundhara on March 8 to celebrate International Women's Day 2012. Dr Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, Dean, School of Business, NSU, Dr Shireen Huq, Chairman, English Department, NSU, CEO, CPO and CFO from GPIT Ltd and some other dignitaries from renowned organisations, NSU faculty members, officials and students were present in the seminar and exchanged views regarding the title of the seminar namely “Women Leadership Inspiring Futures”.

Dr Abdul Hannan Chowdhury gave a speech on building future leaders and said, “Through education we can create awareness and through awareness we can create a world where gender equality shall be a priority and there shall be no more discrimination”.

Kjersti Thoen, CFO, GPIT highlighted the successful women in the history of Bangladesh as well as the world and talked about sexual harassment and discrimination at the work place.

 


MoU held between SEU and PU

A meeting of understanding between the Vice Chancellors of Southeast University and Primeasia University respectively was held on March 6, 2012 at the Conference Room of Primeasia University in presence of teachers and top officials of both the universities.

They expressed deep sense of regret for the injured students, officers including the damage of properties caused due to the unexpected coalision that took place between the students of the universities on March 3, 2012. Both the universities will constitute separate investigation committee to find out the students responsible for the vandalism and disciplinary measures will be taken against the defaulters.


Orientation Programme at SU held

The orientation programme for spring semester 2012 of Department of Civil Engineering of Southern University was held at the conference hall of the university recently. The programme was presided over by Professor Mozzamal Hoque, Head, Department of Civil Engineering. Vice-Chancellor Professor Mohammad Ali graced the event as the chief guest.

He said, “In order to cope with the competitive global market, the students of Civil Engineering must keep abreast of latest technological developments.


Seminar on Youth and Future

A seminar on District Governor's call “Save the Youth Save the Future” was held at LGED Auditorium on March 4, 2012 presided over by the District Governor, Ln Mirza Khorshed Alam MJF. Professor M Lutfar Rahman, Vice Chancellor, Daffodil International University was present as chief guest while Ln Poet Sheikh Rabiul Haque, Chief Adviser to District Governor presented the keynote speech on the topic

A view exchange programme was recently held at the seminar hall of Bagerhar Circuit House with members of different professions and the elites of Bagerhat on “Problems and Possibilities of Education in Bangladesh” at Khulna campus of Northern University Bangladesh. Md Akram Hossain, Deputy Commissioner of Bagerhat was the chief guest.

He said that NUB has been playing an important role by creating opportunities of higher education for the students of this region. Moreover the tuition fees of the university are also within the reach of the middle class people.

World Marketing Summit 2012

Comprising 15 students, the team of Northern University Bangladesh (NUB) participated in 1st 'World Marketing Summit' held from March 1-3, 2012 at Bangabandhu International Convention Center. Saiful Alam Munir, Coordinator and Deputy Registrar, Department of Marketing Development, Promotion and Branding was the head of the team. Jannatul Maowa Nupur, Faculty, Marketing and Zabir Abdullah, member, NUB trust were present at the summit.

In the summit, Professor Dr Philip Kotler, father of Marketing, talked about the social and economic development of each country. About 75 sessions were held in the programme. 'Change the world through Marketing' was the motto of the summit.


NDC Exchanges Views with NSU

A 74 delegation members of National Defense College (NDC) comprising representatives from Army, Navy, Air, Civil Administration and Police Services from home and abroad, led by the Lieutenant General Mollah Fazle Akber, Commandant visited North South University (NSU) on March 7, 2012. NSU Foundation Chairman Mohammed Shajahan and Vice Chancellor (In-Charge) of NSU Abdus Sattar welcomed and briefed the NDC delegation on salient features, academic programmes and strategic plans of NSU. The NDC team included defense officials from China, Egypt, India, Malaysia, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sri-Lanka, Sudan and Tanzania.
