Breaking the Barriers: Recognising the Brightest A Level Students

BridgeWee organised a graduation ceremony for its batch of 2011 on March 28, 2012 at The American Center, Dhaka. BridgeWee prepares A Level graduates for the competitive admission tests of the public universities. Last year they prepared fifteen students, and eleven of them were accepted at the University of Dhaka (DU) with a success rate of 73%. The graduation ceremony was arranged in order to recognise and celebrate the efforts and achievement of the students.

The ceremony started with a welcome remark from Ovick Alam, founder and CEO of BridgeWee. He explained how he felt the need of helping English medium students who lacked proper guidance when it comes to preparing for a prestigious public university.

At the end of his speech, Alam left the floor to Dr Haripada Bhattacharjee, Professor, Department of Marketing, DU. He was present as the Chair of the event. Dr Bhattacharjee provided some inspiring information like, in the admission test held in 2011, 37,973 candidates fought for 966 seats in eight departments of the Faculty of Business Studies, DU.

Ejaj Ahmad, President of Bangladesh Youth Leadership Center (BYLC) was present as the guest of honor. After acknowledging the graduates' success, he encouraged them to reflect more on their lives and discover other fields of knowledge through extra-curricular activities. Ahmad also explained that 'ambition' is focused on 'Me' where as, 'aspiration' is focused on people around 'We', that is the society. He motivated the graduates to use their skill and knowledge to bring about positive changes in the society as he pointed out the power and drive in each of them.

Finally, the chief guest, Dan Mozena, U S Ambassador to Bangladesh, took the stage. He recognised the accomplishment of the students and expressed utmost optimism in the development of Bangladesh by the youth of this country.
