Business Leaders Go Back to Class to Strengthen Sino-European Co-operation
In November 2012, a unique collaboration between Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business (CKGSB) and Cambridge Judge Business School will bring together 75 leading Chinese and European entrepreneurs for an executive education programme designed to enhance their knowledge and business networks.
'Global Business Strategy: China' is organised by the CKGSB, China's leading business school, which opened its European headquarters in London in September 2011 and Cambridge Judge Business School, a world leader in business education.
Robi launches Experiential Programme for Bangladeshi Youth

Mobile phone operator Robi Axiata Limited launched an initiative for the youth of Bangladesh providing them with the opportunity to develop leadership skills through a one year corporate grooming. The launching ceremony of 'Robi Experiential Programme' (REP) was held on May 5 at Westin hotel. Nurul Islam Nahid, Minister, Ministry of Education was the chief guest while Professor A K Azad Chowdhury, Chairman, University Grant Commission (UGC) was the special guest at the event. Among others, eminent academicians from leading business and engineering universities of the country were also present.
Innovative Examination system adopted at IUBAT
The students of International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) who have completed 11 semesters appeared at the 'Practicum Defence Examinations'. It is an innovative system adopted in curriculum for capacity development of future graduates in line with global changes. About 200 candidates from different departments and colleges took part in this exam from April 25, 2012.

In order to enhance the skills of aspiring entrepreneurs, SPEED, in collaboration with Bangladesh Computer Samity organised day long workshops on 'Business Development' and 'Professional Development'. The opening ceremony of the programme was held on May 5 at the SPEED Training Center at Dhanmondi. Sponsored by ICT Business Promotion Council under the Ministry of Finance, the workshop focused on market-based needs and practical approaches. The participants received certificates.
Seminar on 'Court of Conscience' at IBAISU
The Department of Law, IBAIS University, organised a day-long seminar on 'Court of Conscience-A Bangladesh Model of Mediation Mechanism' on April 28. Professor Belal Husain Joy, Dean of Law and Humanities, IBAISU was the keynote speaker who presented 'Bibiker Adalot-Bangladesh Model', researched and developed by him. The seminar was chaired by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor M Delwar Hussain. M Kawser H Comet, the Vice-Chairman of BOT was the chief guest at the seminar. Participants were provided with certificates.
MSc Course to be Introduced for the 1st Batch of NITTRAD

Textiles and Jute minister Abdul Latif Siddique assured to introduce an M Sc course at National Institute of Textile Training, Research and Design (NITTRAD) during an orientation programme organised for the students of BSc in Textile Engineering on April 26 at Savar. The minister also ensured to extend the government's support towards NITTRAD by providing transportation service, enhancing library facilities and more.
The event was also graced by Ashraful Maqbul, Senior Secretary, Ministry of Textiles and Jute, Jahangir Alamin, Chairman, Governing Body, NITTRAD, Professor Rezaul Karim Mazumder, Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, University of Dhaka and David Holbourne, Chief Technical Adviser of UNIDO's EU and Better Work and Standards Programmme (BEST) as special guests. Dr Humayun Kabir, Principal of NITTRAD chaired the programme.

Tertiary level education is gaining momentum in Bangladesh and the enrollment stands at almost 20 lakhs. The present state of higher education attainment is only comparable to that of China, India and Indonesia. If quality could be infused to these huge graduating students, they will be able to lead the South Asian region and the global culture as well, observed UGC Chairman (State Minister) Professor A K Azad Chowdhury.
He made the observation in his presidential speech at the inaugural ceremony of a three-day long workshop on 'Strengthening Leadership Capacity in Higher Education' jointly organised by British Council Bangladesh (BCB) and UGC at the UGC auditorium on May 3.

Eminent Professor Dr Jamilur Reza Choudhury joined University of Asia Pacific (UAP) as the Vice-Chancellor on May 2, 2012. Professor Dr Jamilur Reza Choudhury is a prominent educationist and a former Adviser to the Caretaker Government of Bangladesh. He has received numerous accolades for his contribution in education, infrastructure development, science, ICT policy formulation and research.
