Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awarded

Cambridge International Examinations recognised the outstanding academic achievements of secondary school learners in Bangladesh in June, 2012, Cambridge examination series. The awards were presented at the Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards ceremony, Bangladesh, held at The Westin hotel in Dhaka on November 3, 2012.

Professor Dr A K Azad Chowdhury, Chairman, University Grants Commission, Bangladesh, and David Mansfield, member of University of Cambridge Local Examination Syndicate, were present on the occasion to present the prizes. Among others, representatives of British Council in Dhaka and Suzy Chowdhury, Development Manager, CIE School, Bangladesh and Nepal, were also present.

45 learners received awards for exceptional performance in Cambridge examinations, including 10 learners who achieved the highest marks in the world and 30 learners who attained the highest marks in Bangladesh in a single subject.

The Bangladeshi students who achieved the highest marks in the world in a single subject are Venessa Kaiser, Shah Haibibur Rahman, Zarin Tasnim Ohiba, Shah Habibur Rahman, Debopriyo Biswas, Salman Bin Aziz Mashrur, Sumaiya Rahman, Abul Quashem Md Mashroor Hossain, Md Raziun Bin Mamtaz, Saquib Rahman and Khan Mohammed Muhtadee Taskin.

Learners who have been recognised for 'High Achievement' based on outstanding performance in subjects which are not yet so widely taken in Bangladesh and learners who have achieved the total highest cumulative marks across a number of subjects, were also awarded. The winning learners out-performed thousands of candidates worldwide who sat for examinations in Cambridge O Level, Cambridge IGCSE®, Cambridge International AS Level and Cambridge International A Level.
