BIL Launches Workshop Series
On November 24, 2012, BRAC Institute of Languages (BIL) of BRAC University launched a series of workshop on 'Reading Strategies: From Passive to Active Learners,' facilitated by Pankaj Paul, Lecturer, BIL, in the presence of English language practitioners from all around the country. The aim of the workshop is to share the concept and strategies of 'Interactive Reading' to ensure the transformation of passive readers into active ones.

A seven member delegation team from Dhaka International University led by Barrister Shameem Haider Patwary, Advocate, Supreme Court of Bangladesh, has recently attended the International Conference of Jurists on Terrorism held at Bigyan Bhaban, New Delhi, India, from December 1-2, 2012 arranged by International Council of Jurists, London. The Conference was inaugurated by former Chief Justice of India and present Chairman, Human Rights Commission, India, Justice Balakrishnan.
Corporate Week 2012 at IBA
Institute of Business Administration, University of Dhaka hosted the closing ceremony of the Corporate Week 2012 on December 13, 2012 which was held from November 27 to December 2 with nine multinational and local companies participating in it. The Corporate Week 2012 was organised to give companies, belonging to various industries in the country, the opportunity to come and familiarise themselves as potential employers to the students of the institution. The five day-long event offered the graduating students, of both BBA and MBA programmes of IBA, a chance to interact with employees, learn about them and the job prospects at these companies.
Environmental Science Colloquium at IUB
Environmental Science Colloquium was arranged by the Department of Environmental Science on November 22, 2012 at Independent University Bangladesh (IUB). Professor M Omar Rahman, Vice Chancellor, IUB, was present as the chief guest on the occasion. Professor M Ali Hossain, Head, and Chair of Organising Committee, delivered the welcome speech with the note that the event was organised to encourage the students of Environmental Science and Department. A total of two hundred and fifty three students in forty nine groups participated in the poster exhibition held as part of the colloquium. A scientific documentary on 'The Effect of Formalin in our Society' was screened.
Martyred Intellectuals Day observed at JKKNIU

Marking the Martyred Intellectuals Day, Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University (JKKNIU) in Trishal, Mymensingh, organised a day long programme at the university campus on December 14, 2012. The programme included wearing of black badges, hoisting of national flag, a discussion and placing of floral wreaths at the Swadhinata Memorial. The vice-chancellor of the university, Professor Dr Syed Giasuddin Ahmed was the chief guest at the discussion held at the Theatre Hall of Faculty of Arts.
University of Dhaka
A three day long ‘Bijoy Parbone' festival was held at the Dahka University Gymnasium from December 15-17, 2012. The programme began with a rally in the morning on 16th, headed by a band troupe to commemorate the 41st anniversary of victory. The rally marched through important points around the university campus. President of the Festival Committee and Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University, Professor A A M S Arefin Siddiqui inaugurated the programme. In his speech, he called people from all walks of life to unite for the cause of war-criminal tribunal as well as the peace and solidarity of the nation keeping the essence of freedom in heart and mind.
Jahangirnagar University
To celebrate the 41st Victory Day of Bangladesh, the Department of Finance and Banking (F&B), Jahangirnagar University (JU) arranged a daylong programme on December 16, 2012. Md Tarikul Islam, Chairman, F&B, JU, along with other faculty members inaugurated the programme by unveiling the wall magazine titled “Ak-chollish Bochor Por”. The programme included discussion on liberation war, documentary exhibition, and a cultural show.
Presidency University
Presidency University celebrated National Victory Day on December 16, 2012 at its Aman Conference Hall. Professor Dr Md Aslam Bhuiyan, Veteran Freedom Fighter and Professor, Department of Sociology, University of Chittagong, graced the programme as the chief guest.
Southeast University
Southeast University organised a discussion and cultural programme on the occasion of Victory Day 2012 at the University Seminar Hall on December 12, 2012. Hasanul Haque Inu, MP, Minister, Ministry of Information and Technoliogy, Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh was present as the chief guest.
University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB)
In observance of Victory Day 2012, ULAB organised a commemoration programme on December 12, 2012 at its auditorium. The special guests of the event were valiant freedom fighters Kaiser Hamidul Haq, Professor, Department of English and Humanities, ULAB, and Shahzaman Mozumder, Bir Protik, CEO, Thakral Information Systems Private LTD. The programme included screening of the documentary 'Stop Genocide,' directed by martyred intellectual Zahir Raihan.
