An Affair of Delightful Minds

Raisa Tamanna Khan

"The happiest conversation is that of which nothing is distinctly remembered but a general effect of pleasing impression.”-Samuel Johnson

Johnson's idea of the “happiest conversation” goes perfectly with one of the most significant and vibrant events of BRAC University Film Club (BUFC), Kothopokothon. Held on June 7, 2011 in the indoor games room of BRAC University, the Film Club invited the cast and crew of the popular drama serial FNF. Celebrity guests like Dihan, Partho Barua, Schumonn Patwary, Momo Morshed, Pidim, Falguni and Rumel attended the event along with the young and promising director, Redwan Roni. The well decorated indoor games room came alive with the lively conversations between the members of the FNF family and BRAC University students. One of the advisors of BUFC, Prabal Dutta was also present at the event.

The young people today in Bangladesh are inspired by plenty around them, be it on satellite TV or the existing age old literature they experience in the country itself. It is because of these rich elements that today we have fictions and stories with new ideas and young makers with a different touch to their creations. FNF is such a production among the many different serials showcased by the television channels today. Clearly, productions of this sort have paved their ways towards the young thinkers and film enthusiasts in Bangladesh.

Right from the beginning of the event, the whole FNF team had a dynamic and enthusiastic conversation with the audience. They talked about their experience with each other and the experience they had with their drama serial-- FNF. After the lively conversations and sharing of unique experiences, they had an open discussion forum where members from the audience asked questions to the celebrity guests. The event was hosted by some of the members of BUFC. Once the pleasant and delightful Kothopokothon session was over, the guests signed their names on the bulletin boards along with their best wishes for BUFC. The guests had as much a good time as did the students of BUFC. As hoped for, Kothopokothon turned out to be an exciting event that all the students from BUFC could learn a lot from, thanks to the celebrity guests who gave their valuable time to the students to share so much with them. Moreover, it was an affair of delightful minds and pleasant hearts.
