Power or powerless glasses have always been a part of the fashion accessories. It took a while in Bangladesh to start accepting the fashion of glasses. Many might have a stereotypical preconceived notion, and ask why wear glasses when the doctors have not prescribed it? Well that is an old way of looking at things; maybe one should put on a new frame to change one's perspective. Wearing fancy glasses, just to complete your look is not ridiculous anymore.

From round 'Harry Potter' glasses to fancy coloured Ray Ban glasses, all can be found in our city if you look in the proper places. For kids nowadays 'Harry Potter' glasses are the new 'in' thing. They are available all over Dhaka city, starting from the streets of New Market to the branded stores inside Bashundhara city. The price range also depends on the place you are buying the frames from, and obviously quality will fluctuate from place to place. But then again, if you are willing to spend Tk 150 to Tk 220 for a fashionable cause, it is totally fine. For the ones who want the same glasses but better quality- Bashundhara City would be the proper place to look for. Prices will be between Tk 500 to Tk 800 excluding the charge of

putting power in your glasses. For the ones who prefer glasses like Ray Ban's 'Wayfarer' or 'Aviator', those can be found as well as long as you are not looking for the brand and just the frame. Cheap colourful framed glasses like those can be found in New Market, in front of Balaka Cinema Hall and even in the corners of Farmgate bus stands - all those in a range between Tk 120 to Tk 300. Many young fashionable students would buy 'funky' looking glasses from the market in front of Balaka Cinema Hall and get them powered up from some other place. Since the same glasses are sold at a very high price in the branded stores, many prefer to buy them from the streets. Well there definitely is a big difference no matter how much they look alike; if you buy from a branded store a guarantee card is offered most of the time, and the quality would always be better. There are frames that are also made of rubber or equipped for people who tend to break their glasses a lot. Those can be found in good branded stores and would cost around Tk 750 to Tk 1500.

For girls who just want to put something crazy with their outfit, New Market, Nilkhet, and Bashundhara city are the places to be. Starting from cat framed glasses to huge big round glasses, with animal prints and colourful oval shaped glasses can be found in the places mentioned above. Another exciting thing for both girls and guys are the new 'Shutter Shades,' that are only meant for fashion, and not really for good vision. They come in with different colours and can go with any casual look. These glasses can get a bit tricky to find, but are available in 'Bashundhara City', but you might have to look around. The price range of those glasses would be between Tk 800 to Tk 1200.

So, stop thinking about it and go get yourself a pair of nice glasses. No matter how much we deny it, we know everyone has a soft corner for glasses.
