Meetings held at NUB

The 20th Meeting of Syndicate and 17th Meeting of Academic Council of Northern University Bangladesh (NUB) were held at their Banani Campus on August 8, 2012. Professor Dr M Shamsul Haque, Vice-Chancellor, NUB chaired the meetings and Lt Col (Rted) Aqtedar Ahmed Siddiqui, Registrar of NUB and the Member Secretary of The Syndicate conducted the programmes.


International Youth Day celebrated

Jege Otho Foundation celebrated International Youth Day on August 11. About 200 representatives attended this programme.

The day long programme was scheduled into two phases. Round table discussions on 'Review of National Youth Policy-2003' were conducted with youth representatives. Gazi Mizanur Rahman, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Bangladesh was the chief guest.


Bidding a Farewell

A farewell programme was organised by M H School of Business of Presidency University on August 12 at its Gulshan Campus. Farewell was given to Kaniz Marium Akther, lecturer of the school. In her speech she opined that the School of Business believes in quality education. The programme was presided over by Professor Dr Muhammad Mahboob Ali, Head, M H School of Business, Presidency University. He stated that there is no alternative to quality education and students are the future leaders of the country.


'Research at NASA: Experience and Learning'

FOR students to enrich their knowledge and explore their talents, Department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, Faculty of Science and Information Technology of Daffodil International University (DIU) organised a seminar on 'Research at NASA: Experience and Learning' on August 7, 2012 at the DIU Conference room.

Professor Dr M Lutfar Rahman, Vice Chancellor, Daffodil International University was present as the chief guest and Emeritus Professor Dr Aminul Islam was present as the special guest.


The GEB Alumni Gets Together

The to be formed GEB Alumni (The association of the graduates of the Department of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, University of Dhaka) has organised its first ever get together termed pre-reunion at the Science Lounge, University of Dhaka on August 4. A number of graduates from the first batch to eighth batch of the Department of GEB were present at the occasion. The programme ended with a sumptuous iftaar organised by the fresh graduates of the eighth batch.


Observance of National Mourning Day at IUBAT

International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) observed the National Mourning Day marking the 37th Death Anniversary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at its campus on August 14. A discussion meeting followed by Doa-Mahfil and iftaar was arranged on the occasion.


Rovers hold Internet Jamboree and Community service projects

Daffodil International University Air Rover Unit organised a two-day-long Internet Jamboree and community service projects on August 04-05, 2012. All the Rovers of the University took part in the Internet Jamboree at the main Computer lab of the university and conducted a programme to create awareness to use the foot over bridge and abide by traffic rules. They stood on both sides of the Mirpur Road at Dhanmondi with placards displaying different slogans on traffic rules and helped the traffic police reduce traffic jam.


Jagannarth University hold Iftaar Party

The 5th batch of the Department of Accounting and Information Systems (AIS) at Jagannath University organised an iftaar party on August 6 at the Jagannath University premises. Chairman Dr Ali Noor and other faculty members were present in this iftaar party.


Founding VC's Death Anniversary observed at MBSTU

The 8th death anniversary of Professor Dr Md Yusuf Sharif Ahmed Khan, the founding Vice-chancellor of Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University (MBSTU) was observed at the university campus at Santosh in Tangail on July 31 this year.

The university authority organised a milad mahfil at the university's central mosque after the Maghrib prayer to mark the day. Professor Dr M Nurul Islam, Vice-Chacellor. MBSTU was present at the prayer. Professor Dr Md Yusuf Sharif Ahmed Khan was a renowned marine scientist of the country and founder of the Criminology and Police Science department in Bangladesh.


'Korean IT Volunteer Team' conducted 'IT Training' at NUB

Korean IT Volunteer team (KIV) completed a month-long 'IT Training and Cultural Exchange Programme' at Northern University Bangladesh (NUB) recently. A Certificate Giving Ceremony was arranged on July 29. Professor AYM Abdullah, Phd, Chairman, NUB Trust was the chief guest while Professor Dr M. Shamsul Haque, Vice-Chancellor, chaired the programme. This programme included training on HTML, Notepad++, Photoshop and Video Editing.
