DPS STS SCHOOL STUDENTS TO REPRESENT BANGLADESH AT THE MUMKIN SAARC SCHOOLS CONFERENCE

A four day long South Asia Region Schools Conference- MUMKIN, is going to be held at the Welham Boys' School, Dehradun (India) from November 14, 2012. The Mumkin SAARC Schools Conference which will be held at one of India's top public schools, Welham Boys' School Dehradun, will be attended by delegates from 7 countries - Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Bangladesh will be represented by DPS STS School. Six senior students--Mrinoy Tasneem Sobhan, Raihan Kabir Chowdhury, Ainan Tazrian Ahmed, Akkrab Mehtar, Alavi Wahid Zaman and Sifat Bin Quadery accompanied by Sonia Saadullah (Senior Coordinator and Senior English Teacher) will form the delegation to represent Bangladesh at the Mumkin SAARC Schools Conference. In addition to the conference, all the delegates would visit Agra and Delhi in order to see the important historical monuments like the Jama Masjid, Taj Mahal and Fethpur Sikri etc. This conference would be an important step in promoting peace and understanding among the youth of the SAARC countries. The theme of the conference is, Building Bridges through Multilateralism (Trade, Education and Tourism).

As the Vice Principal of DPS STS School, Madhu Wal mentioned, “Education is not all about text books and learning notes. Much of education takes place outside the realms of classroom. It is essential to give wide exposure to children, get them to face real life situations, teach them survival skills. In short, equip them to face the challenges of life and make them tough and independent. For this, outdoor exposure becomes a vital component of the educational process.”

18 students of DPS STS School, accompanied by two teachers would be going for an Adventure Camp at Pine Riveira Padampuri, Nainital (India). Besides sight seeing at places like Agra and Delhi, the children would visit Jim Corbett National Park as well. At the Adventure Camp near Nainital, where the children would live in tents at a picturesque camping site, they would be doing activities like rappelling, cliff jumping, river fording, raft building, tyrolean traverse, flying fox and commando obstacles.
