Orientation Programme of BSc 131 Batch at BUFT

The orientation programme of BSc 131 batches (Spring Semester 2013) in Apparel Manufacture and Technology (AMT), Fashion Design and Technology (FDT), Knitwear Manufacture and Technology (KMT), Textile Engineering and Textile Management, BUFT were held on January 11, 2013 at BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology (BUFT) at its Uttara Campus. Professor Dr Syed Masud Husain, Vice Chancellor of BUFT was present as the chief guest.

The introductory speech was given by Professor Dr Ayub Nabi Khan, Pro-Vice Chancellor of BUFT. Mr M Jamal Uddin, Associate Professor and Head of the KMT Department, Mr Kazi Shamsur Rahman and others also gave speech to the new students. Faculty members, senior admin officials and staff of BUFT were present at the occasion.


Excellence Achieved

The University of Chittagong in its 486th syndicate meeting awarded the PhD degree to Mr Muhammad Hanif Murad for the thesis entitled “Solution of Feedforward Neural Networking Problem Using Different Optimization Methods”. The thesis was completed under the joint supervision of Professor Jamal Nazrul Islam, Emeritus Professor at the Research Centre for Mathematical and Physical Sciences, University of Chittagong and Professor Salauddin Al Azad, Radiology and Imaging Department, Bongo Bondhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, Dhaka.


IUBAT Signed Academic Collaboration with Kobe University, Japan

International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) Dhaka, Bangladesh has established academic collaboration by signing MOU with Graduate School of Human Development and Environment, Kobe University, Kobe, Japan. The core objective of collaboration agreement is to promote and widen academic cooperation between Bangladesh and Japan in the areas of higher education and cultural exchange. The new agreement with the university of Kobe has raised the global network of collaboration of IUBAT to 83 with universities and academic bodies across the world. Professor Dr M Alimullah Miyan, Founder and Vice-Chancellor of IUBAT and Professor Honoki Kahoru, Dean, Graduate School of Human Development and Environment, Kobe University, Japan signed the MOU at a formal ceremony on February 9, 2013 in Dhaka at the IUBAT Conference Hall


Daffodil All Star Performed at Riviera 2013 at VIT India

A cultural delegation of All Star Daffodil, a student's cultural organization of Daffodil International University performed a number of cultural shows on 'We Sing for Equality' written and directed by Syed Mizanur Rahman to promote peace and safer world by participating in Riviera 2013 held from February 6-9, 2013 at VIT University in Chennai, India. Mr Masud Ibne Rahman, Assistant Professor, Daffodil International University and Moderator, All Star Daffodil, lead the team. The other members of the team are, Mr Mahabub Parvez, Assistant Professor, FBE, and Saikat Majumder and Al Feshani Shuvo, student of BBA Programme of Daffodil International University.


ToT Programme Begins at NITER

A nine-day Training of Trainers (ToT) programme on “Modern Technology in Spinning, Weaving And Knitting” has begun at the National Institute of Textile Engineering and Research (NITER), Nayerhat, Savar, on February 11. Abdul Mannan Miah, Vice President, Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA), inaugurated the workshop as chief guest while Mr Feroz Ahmed, Secretary General, Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA), was present at the opening ceremony as Guest of Honour. The programme was presided over by Dr Md Humaun Kabir, Principal, NITER.


Spring Festival

The Confucius Institute at NSU and Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh celebrated the Chinese New Year with great festivity. The title of this year's Spring festival was ‘Happy Chinese New Year Theme Park’. To celebrate the beginning of the year, a grand programme was held on January 26-27, 2013 at the plaza area of NSU. The theme park had stalls for the display of Chinese traditional dresses and instrument, Chinese tea ceremony; display of interactive computer- based language learning and sold Chinese language and cultural books. Chinese ambassador in Bangladesh, Mr Li Jun was the chief guest, Mr Liang Bin, the cultural Counselor, was the guest of honour and the Acting VC of NSU, Dr Abdus Sattar chaired the function. After inauguration, there were some cultural performances by the students of Chinese learning schools and of Confucius Institute at NSU.


Three Years of Success at LCBS Dhaka

LCBS Dhaka has celebrated its third year anniversary on January 17, 2013 at Russian Cultural Centre in Dhanmondi. All the students, faculty members, staff members and the other stake holders of LCBS Dhaka were present at the event to celebrate this joyous moment. As a part of the celebration there was a daylong programme. To inspire the fresh students to take up the challenges of the professional education and success, the existing LCBS students, with brilliant results, were recognised with awards at the event. The eventful day was concluded with the speech of the CEO, M A Kalam where he conveyed his gratitude to all who contributed in the brilliant success story of LCBS Dhaka as a quality tuition provider for professional education sector in Bangladesh within a short span of time. The event was also attended by Mohua Rashid, the Country Manager of ACCA Bangladesh, and Ms Zareef Tamanna Matin, the Country Manager of CIMA, as chief guests.
