Near Land and Story Behind

A photofeature by Jannatul Mawa

Maoists have been integral in shaping democracy in Nepal. Although the war is over, it seems it is continuing everywhere. I still keep meeting families that have lost someone in the war. However, women are still the main victims here.

The participation of youth, especially girls, in politics here is higher than that of the youth in other countries. This participation is visible everywhere. While the Nepali people keep on fighting for their collective demands, their suffering becomes all the more visible.
