Bdjobs.com-CUDS Inter Department Debate Competition 2011

Adhar Moner Guhai Joluk Juktibodher Moshal with this slogan Chittagong University Debating Society (CUDS) organised 11th Bengali and 5th English Inter Department Debate Competition 2011 from September 26-28, 2011 at social science faculty auditorium in Chittagong University.

Vice-chancellor Professor Anwarul Azim Arif was the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony. Professor Dr Mahbulbul Haque, Moderator ,CUDS presided over the session while Dr Zakir Hossain, Dean of Law Faculty, Nazim Uddin Shamol, Bureau chief of 'The Independent', Adnan Mannan, Lecturer Genetic Engineering and Bio-technology Department, Badruddoza Jewel, Ex-President, CUDS and Assistant Sales Manager Bdjobs.com Ltd, Mohit-ul Islam, President, CUDS and Lutfor Rahman, General Sectary, CUDS were also present as special guests. Professor Muhammad Sekandar Khan, Vice-Chancellor of East Delta University inaugurated the function. Vice Chancellor Anwarul Azim Arif stressed on debating in promoting the practice of free thinking and tolerance in society and praised CUDS for its regular activities.

In the grand finale, Finance and Banking Department bagged the crown of Championship against Management Studies on the topic “This house believes that intra and inter generation justice can ensure environmental balance” in the Asian parliamentary debate. Kholil Zibran Shakkor was awarded the best debater. Islamic History and Cultural department won the championship against Law in Bengali parliamentary debate and Rizoanul Kabir was the debater of this final round.

The Final debate was presided over by Dr Abdun Noor Tushar and the adjudication panel comprised of Mahfuz Mishu, General Secretary, BDF, Moniruzzaman Bhuiya, Assistant Professor, Statistics Department, Adnan Manna, Lecturer, Genetic and Bio-technology Department, Badruddoza Jewel, Ex-President, CUDS, ATM Muhitul Islam, President, CUDS and Masud Bin Jamal, Ex-General Secretary, CUDS.

The closing ceremony was graced by the presence of Anisul Haque, prominent writer and columnist, Dr Abdun Noor Tushar, President, BDF while Professor Dr MD Aladdin, Pro-vice-Chancellor was the chief guest. Dr Zakir Hossain, Dean, Law Faculty and member of Bangladesh judicial service commission, Nazim Uddin Shamol Bureau chief of the daily Independent, Badruddoza Jewel, Ex-President CUDS, ATM Mohitul Islam President CUDS and Lutfor Rahman, General Secretary, CUDS were also present as special guests. Professor Dr Mahbulbul Haque presided over the closing ceremony. The guests gave away the prizes to the debaters.
