Of Love and
Celebration

Braving the political pandemonium, the saffron brigade invaded the city on the 13th of this month. Clad in yellow-red saris, garlanded with flowers of the same colour, the young women came out to celebrate the beginning of Falgoon -- the month that ushers in Bashanta (spring). The next day was the day that the Greeks used to celebrate love and bonding. The Bangalis too have woken up to the ardour of classical origin. Hundreds of young women and men made it an occasion to dress up in colourful garb and hit their favourite digs. Dhaka was in a festive mood, Ramna being the heart of all activities. The month-long book fair only boosted the spirit. Though nothing could stop people from celebrating, a series of blasts on the evening of February 14 just put another blow to the joy-loving Bangladeshis.
