Cricket Mania

“So what if we are disabled! We can challenge anyone in cricket, and even outplay them!” That's exactly what these cricketers seemed to portray to J. A. Akash when he snapped this photograph. The enthusiasm and vigor shown in play surmounted more than that of the able bodied players. Akash says that this is a true example of the indomitable spirit of people, by which they turn the impossible into an achievement and moreover, they make it look easy.

Akash started photography back in 2000 and took it up professionally in 2004. This particular photograph was taken in 2009, and the whole situation had awed him to a point that he realized that these sportsmen were doing something that proves difficult for even normal people. Akash has won 21 international awards for photography. He says that the Celebrating Life Competition is a much needed initiation, especially in our country to promote the photographers.
