New Year's Special
Honorable Mention

Shaikh Mohir Uddin
Photography, 2010

Bull-Cart Race

Every year during winter, after the paddy is cut and the farmer has reaped his rewards, the empty land becomes a playground for festivals that welcome the season in villages in Jessore. This photograph, which is an Honourable Mention in Celebrating Life 2010 Photography Contest, was taken in 2009.

Shaikh Mohir Uddin, a resident of Khulna, has been a photographer for fifteen years now, and says that it is both an addiction and a profession. He says that bull races are a tradition of the area, where one village invites others surrounding it every year after the paddy has been cut to take part in the festivities. Mohir Uddin expressed the Celebrating Life Competition to be a very strong platform and remarked that the exhibitions should be longer.
